Red must be the “in” color this year. 😉

Waiting for FedEx to deliver something today. Sure hope it’s my free pair of Keens, since I didn’t order anything! 😉
I keep thinking about this, and what I have come up with is why we started in the first place: Caching gives us destinations.
We had always dragged out our topo maps and taken Sunday drives, and we would often pick a part of the state to make an overnight visit to, but when I saw geocaching, I thought that this would give us a “list” of places to go, and it has.
But it’s not about checking places off a list. It’s about where do we want to go on a nice day to get outside, or what part of Wisconsin do we want to visit to get away for a day or two. Caching helps us decide those destinations.
I figured that coords were provided for finals to puzzle caches, but I didn’t know about the multis. We have only gone after a handful of cache rescues, and all three that we got points for had containers present. We went for another one that we did not find, but we are assuming that it is still there under the snow, so we did not submit for CR points.

we can only assume that the CO will remove the cache when they archive. Unfortunately, that may not always be the case.
Cache owners: please police your own containers. Don’t assume that if a cache has numerous DNFs that say it is missing, that it is missing. Confirmed missing from a previous finder may help but as the owner, you are still responsible to remove any inactive/archived caches. Please and thank you.
I have some concerns about cachers not wanting to have their caches anymore and just listing them for cache rescue and the LCG points. If they are active enough in the game to do that, they are active enough to go out and pull their own containers. They put them in the woods, they can remove them from the woods.
Exceptions would be if they are no longer in the area or if they now have some physical disabilities that prevent them from going to their cache locations. Another CR by CO that would be acceptable (IMO) would be if caches needed maintenance, especially in a timely manner, and for some reason or another the COs can’t do it themselves.
Some are under a bunch of snow. Things will pick up when it melts.
I’ll do a write-up of today’s snowshoeing event… with photos.
Lacknothing IS a travel bug!
Make that two, LB7. Thanx for the heads up, Cheezehead! 8)

Just think of yourself as “special”, Mister GT. Or maybe there are many others out there having the same problem, but they aren’t in the WGA to post on this forum.
We are partial to Roche-A-Cri State Park (30 miles north of the Dells), and Hartman Creek State Park (SW of Waupaca). Both parks have many, many caches in them, thanks to recent WGA events being held at those.
RAC is more rustic, with no showers or flush toilets, but all of the campsites are wooded. There is a newly-rebuilt 303-step stairway to the top of the mound that provides great views (and quite the workout). Nice variety of caches (icons, degree of effort expended), within 10 miles of Castle Rock Lake, and (as said before) 30 miles from the Dells.
Hartman Creek has tons of trails to hike or mountain bike, a nice beach for swimming, great fishing, lakes for kayaking and canoeing, and is close to the Waupaca area Chain of Lakes. The Ice Age Trail also goes through the park. Facilities are modern (shower, flush toilets), but the sites fill up fast for summer weekends. Most are in the shade now–pines or old apple trees. Very roomy sites, maybe half with electric, if you want that.
I remember that the first “Eagle Source” expedition was the same day as our first “Sweet Treats” event, and sweetlife (Barry and Val) considered both but chose the food over the exercise. We were so glad that we first met you two (and Signal) at that event, but we are equally glad for you that you saved the trip to the “source” for this momentous occasion.
It sounds like you had a great time with your group of intrepid cachers, Barry, and we congratulate you and Val on the 7500 finds! 😀 😀 😀
We still use our Eureka Willow 10×10 tent. Got it in 1988. Nylon. No leaking, but don’t touch the sides in a rainstorm.
And then after few more years, along came OpenCaching.
