Are you taking applications for judges? 😉
My mom knitted a pair of these a looooong time ago for Mr. Sandlanders to use when he went bow hunting. Actually, it was only his right mitten that was like this; the left one was a regular mitten.
Mittens keep my hands warmer than gloves. The fingers are “sharing the warmth” with each other and are not separated by cloth.
It would also help to change your current avatar, cjaeger! 😉
Je vois que vous vous amusez dans la Big Easy, Destruction Terrestre!
Any number of finders of a particular cache can claim those points during the two-month cycle that it is on the LCG list. However, only one finder (unless more than one cacher/team goes along on the hunt) can claim the double or triple bonus points for caches that haven’t been found in a year or two. After that, the following finder(s) get just the regular “find” points.
And there are cachers who don’t play the LCG who may be the first ones to find the cache in over a year or two. In that case, the bonus points go unclaimed, but the regular points are still available to any finders during the cycle.
And you can play the LCG without being competitive. It’s fun, and you’re still helping keep the quality of Wisconsin caches high just by playing.
Don’t even worry about sorting for the attribute. Some caches have no attributes at all on them. The snowflake means different things to different people. Read the cache page to see if anything on it will give you an idea about what kind of conditions will help or hurt your chances of a fun and successful hunt.
This won’t work if you’re doing a numbers run, but it may be more informative… or not.
Welcome to the fun, cjaeger! Yeah, a lot of caches are harder to find when the snow levels are higher, but there are still plenty you can go for in your area. At least you don’t have to worry about ticks and mosquitoes right now!
TBC, if you and others can take care of the techno end of things, and the BOD or whoever can give me subject material and background info, I’ll write whatever you want whenver you want it.
BTW, would the FTP standings updates be newsworthy? 😉
We definitely won’t do evil monkey or scuba hides, but some places that sound really neat to visit are just beyond what we are willing to try physically. Sometimes I think we have a mental block, and winter doesn’t help things. We are growing weary of P&Gs and want to go for more, but the mind says slippery trails, deep snow, wet feet, burning lungs, and stuck vehicles.
Each time we have a less-than-enjoyable experience, we seem to withdraw more. Like I said… wise or wimpy?

I was going to make my own reply to Sherry’s post, but this is much better!
“Thank You” does not even begin to say it all.
YOU ROCK, TBC!!!
And thank you to Gwyn for making this forum about more than the numbers.
Photo was taken by Wi.Hibiscus and was uploaded with her attended log. Thanks, Wi-Hi!
01/06/2013 at 4:20 pm in reply to: First cache hidden – looking for expert advise and questions #1966686You can make up a cache page whenever you want to. All you need to start are the coords for the location and some idea of what you want your cache to be. As long as you don’t enable the listing, or click a box that will enable the listing, you can save it to work on later. I know this is an option at the end of the new form, but I think just submitting without enabling saves it on the old form.
Then you can take your time writing up the cache page and editing it to get it the way you want it and to make sure that everything is in place and ready to go. If you want the cache to be published on a certain date, say like for an event or a special day, you can request that in a reviewer’s note before the enabling submission, but it can’t be guaranteed. You can also list the date on your cache page as the one you want it to be (like for someone’s birthday or a holiday), whether it gets published on that date or not. Otherwise, if it’s just a matter of time, like after a snowstorm or when you have caching friends coming in to town or whatever, just wait until the time you want is near or past (snowstorm), then enable (submit for publication) the completed and ready cache
Just don’t let the cache languish in obscurity too long after you started it. If there is a chance that someone else decides to place a cache within 0.1 miles of your unpublished cache, you will receive a notification asking as to your intentions so the area can be freed up if you have changed your mind about the cache. If you still want your cache there after being asked, then submit it for publication fairly quickly.
“Labrat Sings the Blues”… Cool! And not only was it a milestone for him, but it was #2700 at that! 😯 :like:
Thanks for leading the troops in song, Pete, and congrats on the milestone!
Please, people! Close all of your windows! Are you trying to heat the whole outdoors???
