Guess it’s too late to reduce my new cache notification radius from 50 miles to 45 or less… 😕
Can anyone tell me if there is a challenge cache for finding all of the WGA state park caches?
There is no overall challenge cache that was placed by the WGA for completion of the series. The committee decided to go with digital art on one’s WGA profile page when a biome had been completed… kind of like GC souvenirs. Not sure how frequently this is updated or if it still works, but that’s something to look for.
Five biome badges plus one for overall completion, only on your WGA profile page. The thinking was that this would also be a way to have people visit the WGA website and become more familiar with everything else that was going on with the organization.
What’s the word on a new kitty, jar42? Our last cat came from the Adams County animal shelter back in 1997. She was well on in years and we had her for her last four, almost. The shelter lied, though. “Lovable lap cat.” She hated to be held and didn’t care for us much. Perhaps she didn’t like that we renamed her “Sandy”. She also stalked our other cat who, like your Daisy, had been left an only child.
We have been cat-free for over 15 years now.
Everyone is watching the Packers now, right?

Blue frosting… It’s not just for birthdays anymore. Our nephew had these for consumption at his wedding last month:

HP2, we hiked 100 miles of the IAT this year from April to October, from Skunk and Foster Lakes to the Wisconsin River bridge on Highway 82. Did about 3-5 miles each time we went out, did all the connecting and unofficial road segments, too, so there is no inch of the IAT route in this area that we did not set foot on this year. We didn’t do the Murry loop, though, since it was’t part of the straight line route, but we did go back to do the three caches on the Waupaca River segment scenic blue loop, and we took a short side trip to get a cache on the Faraway Valley green loop (have to go back for a couple of others there).
If you haven’t done the Deerfield segment in northern Waushara County, we really enjoyed that. It’s private land, and I think it’s closed during gun deer season, but it’s a nice variety of terrain and landscape to wander through. 3.7 miles, if I remember right. We did that in early June.
Early on during our camping days at the summer home, we took our bikes one day on the trail south out of the park and rode back on Emmons Creek Road. It was the next year that bikes were no longer allowed on the IAT. The trail was quite primitive there then, but I think it’s south of the barrens that is where the stairs are now.
. . . Hiked on the IAT segment that ZB helped build in October of 2015.
Is this the Murry Creek Loop? Literally ran into it a few weeks ago, and was completely surprised as it does not yet appear on the IAT on-line map, though it is included in the Waupaca Co. Chapter’s pdf map [ even though it is in Waushara Co…..
] No, they built a dedicated IAT route through Hartman Creek State Park last fall while keeping the regular park trails for other uses. It shows up on the park trail maps now, and Hunters333 put a few new hides on that newest segment to go with the ones he has placed elsewhere on the IAT in the park and nearby. We did HCSP #9 – #12 yesterday (no logs written yet), but they go all the way from Edminster Road on the north to the southern border of the park at the Emmons Creek Barrens.
Zoesbrother has worked on a lot of the Mobil Skills Crew projects around this state this year, but he helped build that newest Hartman Creek segment last fall. Some great IAT hiking in Portage, Waupaca, and Waushara Counties. Lots of super caches along the route, too.
The HCSP – IAT #9 cache is GC6J69V.
Congratulations on all those zeroes, lostcheq! (Looks like a binary 16 to me… 😉 )
This might help that ratio…

Visited the summer home on this lovely fall day. Found five caches total and did maintenance on six. Hiked on the IAT segment that ZB helped build in October of 2015.
Still more finds than posts this month.
That is awesome! Sounds like quite the trek you had
Three mini-treks.
We found the last seven WGA SP caches on our list October 16-24, which also gave us our last three biomes. Of course, we haven’t logged any of those finds yet. (Still working on the logs from a trip out west in August.
Photo below was taken on October 16.
