Thanks for reminding me that I have an eye appointment today. 😉
07/26/2011 at 3:04 pm in reply to: 2011 WGA Fall Picnic – Brunet Island State Park – Committee #1949083It appears that the park has room for some additional permanent caches.
Informative read there. It’s nice to see what goes on behind the technology, and what problems pop up that we basic users don’t even think of. Thanks for sharing this article.
I want to win the Nobel Prize for Geocaching.

Do we get a do-over? Unless today’s the day, I blew it. 😥
Day’s not over yet 😆
Are you trying to tell us something, Hippie? Besides trying to puff up the puffins?

Hmmm. Premium cache. Wonder what the CO thinks of all the hits from cachers in Wisconsin all of a sudden?
I logged a note to the cache but if I was the CO I’d be wondering what the he**?
And now we’re all checking in on that cache page again to see what you wrote, CJ. 😆 😆 😆

But I’ll take the hat.

Thanks everybody! It was such a great trip. And yes, it’s an amazing place.
But you missed this one on the way out: GC14XCF 😆
Guess it will be up to us to go for that FTF next month! 😉
I missed this part in the announcement before: “Geocacher of the Month hat“. Maybe I’ll change my mind! 😉

I would nominate Sandlanders.

That’s for Useless-Drivel-Poster-of-the-Month, TBC. For the year, too. And for the lifetime achievement award.
(But it’s not about the numbers… 😉 )There was something here a while back about a geocaching hall of fame. I wasn’t fond of that proposal, and I’m not fond of this one. There are way too many geocachers I know of who fit the bill just in Wisconsin alone. There is no way that any one cacher out of five million worldwide can be singled out each month for this or any kind of an honor.
Geocaching is a game, not a contest. There are no winners and there are no losers. While this appears to be honoring those who uphold to the nth degree the ideal standards of geocaching, it is still a contest. Bad idea, IMO.
I would not nominate any one geocacher, nor would I vote for any one geocacher.
Thanks for all the congrats, everyone! A special thanks to Labrat for the milestone cache and to Grandpa and Chucky for the company. That was a great day in a favorite place of ours. If you missed the WGA campout in May and haven’t been to Hartman Creek since, put it on your must-do list.
It took us about two years to get the first 500 caches, but only a year for each of the next two 500s. I think we’re hitting our stride now. Still won’t ever end up with more finds than posts, though! 😉 And we would be sitting at zero finds if it weren’t for the COs of the 1500 caches we have found. You are the people who make this game work for all of us!
And, CJ, a “spell” is however long it takes to stop and smell the roses… a “simple reward for getting out there and walking the trails.”
We’re going to Yellowstone next month. Great place! Not sure if we’ll hit all the ECs and virts that you did, but we’re going to catch a few. Glad to see that you celebrated find #500 in a “beccaday way” there. Congrats!
