Our condolences to both of you.
We are waiting for a nephew to return from his second tour of Iraq in April. Can’t say enough about those who serve, and for those who make the ultimate sacrifice, words aren’t enough.
Congratulations on find #1500, Shrek & Fiona! It’s great to be close enough to your swamp so that we can find all of your great caches, too!
OK. Here’s a design that I submitted. TBC invited us from the thread stealers’ thread to do so. From recent remarks there, I probably should have included a dinosaur or two on the coin, but they were more to the west of Wisconsin. Maybe a wooly mammoth. 🙄 😉

I think the cheese can be colored enamel or the gold/brass metal with the cheese holes/dents in it. The asterisks can be snowflakes or stars, and could be enamel or metal or stones, if they do that.
The spot for the tracking needs to have the white out of it and maybe be a bit smaller. The compass rose doesn’t have letters, but the N and W points that we use for coords in Wisconsin are shown. It could also be taken as the sun rising on the “east coast” of Wisconsin. And I like pine trees. Maybe I should have made them cedar trees. 😉
As usual, when we visit the Fox Valley, we overload on caches to look for. The same held true yesterday. There we some that we ran out of time to attempt, and two of these were s|s caches. But we have the necessary information and coordinates for these, so if they get archived before a return visit, we can see what we were asked to see and experience what the CO wanted us to experience. We just may not get the smileys for these.
The same is true for all of the caches that used to be in the state natural areas. There are no physical containers there anymore, but the land is still available to visit just as the original cache owners wanted us to do. So if you have solved any puzzles for seldom|seen’s caches, you have experienced most, if not all, of what he wanted you to get out of the cache. You have done the internet research, you have learned something, you have taxed your brain a bit. If you are doing an in-the-field puzzle, you can still go there to get the information, and if you feel like looking for the hiding spot, you still can. Just no smiley.
And through the adoptions-fosterings-caretakings of many of these caches, we can still “have our cake and eat it too”. Might not be as sweet as before, but still satisfying.
Dang! I forgot to post last week when the actual last day was to occur. Think as of March 19, sloughfoot has put his feet up for good.
Let the non-stop caching begin!
Sounds like you’re enjoying the activity that all of us here love so much. Welcome to the game and the WGA, Debby! And now that you’re really into it, you should be set for all future holidays and birthdays… new receivers, ammo cans, camo duct tape, lock-n-locks… 😉
03/24/2010 at 4:11 pm in reply to: Hot Tamales! CodeJunkie Stamps (or is it stomps?) to Nbr 400 #1925878Congrats on the special 400 cache for you , CJ. Letterboxes are hard enough to do in the daytime, but in the dark? With all that “stamping business”? But they’re so much fun!
OK, who’s hosting the event cache where CodeJunkie hits #500? What will you do when all the icons have been used for milestones… run through them all again? 😉
Again, congrats, CJ!
You two like those out of state (or country) milestones. Congrats on the #400 mark, bme22! Good race to see, too.
This was really hopping just a few minutes ago. Lots of big ones just cruising past in front of the camera full-frame. One even came at it direct on before turning.
Just humble peasants from Sandland who have ventured east from time to time, but we are strong devotees of the code of chivalry. We cannot contemplate a Selzzup barren and void of the rich tapestry that it has been blessed with these past few years. There is room for all.
Way to go on find #1000!
Earlier this afternoon the fish seemed to steer right towards the camera like they knew we wanted to see them.
Just saw a couple dozen go by in maybe 6-7 minutes. Thought for a bit at first that they were rerunning last year’s video with the giant maple leaves floating by, but then the fish started appearing.
Too bad Jerry is in school right now.

Jerry sat in front of the computer yelling at the top of his lungs “The is another fish!” every time he saw one. My wife finally yelled at him that we didn’t need to know everyone. I then went and enjoyed the show with him!
😆 😆 😆
Post one thousand for this thread.
