I think the key thing is that people should try to respect the intention of the cache as best they can. It’s what keeps it enjoyable for everyone.
This is what we try to do, whether it is a puzzle or a regular cache. If it’s a night cache, try it at night. If it’s a canoe cache, try it with the canoe. If it’s a multi, do all the waypoints. If it’s a puzzle, solve it yourself (or as a collaboration beforehand). If we need help after trying a find or a puzzle on our own, we may ask the cache owner for a nudge or two. Once in a while, if the cache owner has been AWOL for a while, we’ll ask a previous finder where the container is.
I can think of only one time we were caching with others that we didn’t have the solve on a puzzle cache. We were going to sign the log and write a note on the cache page until we had had time to try the puzzle ourselves, but in this case, the cache was a DNF for all, so the point was moot. We have since solved the puzzle, but still haven’t made the find. And it can also be a letdown at times when caching with a group that not everyone can make the find on a container, especially if it’s a unique type of hide, but so far that hasn’t been a problem.
But play like you want without destroying the integrity of the game. If the smiley is what you’re going for, that’s what will make you happy. If it’s conquering a physical challenge, that’s what will make you happy. If it’s the solve on a tricky puzzle, that’s what will make you happy. Geocaching is what makes us all happy.
Johnson Creek is along I-94 between Madison and Milwaukee. There is a big outlet mall there, too.
Baseball spring training has now started.
Congratulations from us to the newly-elected BOD members! To you and to the other candidates, we thank you for giving of your time and of yourselves to help make this organization one that represents this great state well in the world geocaching community! Hats off and pats on the back to all nine of you!
Two and a half pages on this topic already… 🙄 🙄 😀 😉
We want more!

The three election monitors this year are Gwyn Calvetti, Brian Geoffrey, and Jeremy Vechinski. At the end of the election they need to tally the votes and “certify” the election. Because of this, the official results may not be announced for a day or two after voting closes.
Patience.
“base of tree” as the hint
Are you making this stuff up or can you really find out how many of everything there is?
Or “cedar” as the hint?
OK. I might have how to do this now.
1. Go to geocaching.com and click on “my profile”.
2. Click on your stats bar (with the GC logo on it).
3. Copy the entire http address at the top.4. Back on the WGA site, click on “your account” at the bottom of the main menu to the left.
5. Click the “membership info” tab.
6. Near the top right under your caching name, past the http address you copied in the geocachiing.com spot.
7. At the bottom of the page, click on “update”.You should now have the 4-color GC logo after your account name here. If I’m remembering right, now the harvester will recognize your out-of-state finds as belonging to a Wisconsin cacher here. Because this is an optional part of your profile, it doesn’t happen automatically.
Jeremy or others, feel free to correct anything I have said here.
And I seem to remember something about the harvester not catching your out-of-state finds if you do not have your link to geocaching.com on your profile here in the WGA. And I’m only just a little bit more sure about things than Cheezehead is. But we both seem to understand a wee bit more technical stuff than Birdin’ does! 😉
Hmmm-mmmmm… 6 out of 1386 blue question marks placed. Just doing our part to confuse Wisconsin cachers!
OK. How many caches with “cat” in the title? Will they outnumber the “birds”? 😉

I can tell you how many puzzle or mystery caches there are (1386)
That’s all? 😯
Good luck looking for leprechauns today, everyone!

Most events aren’t “official” WGA events:
“Upcoming Wisconsin Geocaching Events
* and boldface type indicates an officially sponsored WGA event (official WGA events may be statewide events organized by the WGA Board, or regional events put on by members via the WGA Regional Events Policy)”
This was from the events page that shows up when clicking on the “Events” link on the WGA web site. To get listed on this events schedule, the event host submits the info for listing approval here. Many events get lots of buzz–through forums, GC listings, social networking sites, etc.– before they even show up listed here.
