Sounds like that might be a final in a series, and therefore a plain puzzle… You need to get information from other caches to get the coordinates for the final.
A challenge cache to me is “complete these XX caches, then you have permission to find and log the challenge cache.”
We don’t mark where the vehicle is, but since the receiver is most often on when we get somewhere, the back tracking can guide us back to the vehicle. There have been some cases where that is exactly what we had to do.
At other times, we wished we would have marked where the car was and used “Go To”, like if we took a long winding route to the cache by following a trail or creek or something, but then we see the car isn’t that far away for the return trip if we would go directly to it. We still usually opt for the retracing our route option, though, because we know what to expect as far as obstacles and bushwhacking go on the way back.
Refresh my memory on the Challenge cache guidelines…
If you require specific caches to be found (like in “How Hungry”), then it can’t be done.
If you require certain types of finds or find combinations to be completed, but cachers are allowed choice/leeway as to which caches they find to meet the requirements, this is OK.
Is this it or no?
Welcome, WI.Hibiscus! You’ve realized by now that we’ll take anybody in this group (BakRdz), but you truly are welcomed to this nuthouse. Have fun!
And, CodeJunkie… We made sure to tell our friends about your escapade with the arson squad early in your career. 😆 (Names were changed to protect the innocent.)

Been following the space station passes for over three years now. Current passes are in the mornings. With the space shuttle scheduled to launch soon, there might be an opportunity to catch a “double” pass after the station and shuttle separate near the end of the mission.
Oh, and we’ve never been able to “find” this cache. 🙁 😉
Your post does not meet the qualifications for a “crabby post”, Gwyn. 😉
We also like to do caches in the spirit the owners have intended. That’s why they placed the caches the way they did. Challenge caches? We’ll do some if we will enjoy meeting the requirements. We’re not well-rounded, nor have we had a busy day and probably won’t. This is just like with any other cache: no matter how great the cache or beautiful the view, if it’s something we don’t want to do (usually the terrain), we’ll take a pass. Still almost another million caches out there to look for.
To us (and to modify a quote), caching’s a journey, not a competition.

He he, Pat knew this would happen!
Yep! 😆 😆 😆
OK, guess teens and pre-teens are immune to non-crabbiness.
As long as they stay out of the forums here, they can be crabby all they want. 😉 Sorry, parents. No groundhog shadow here! Just snow.
Four hours there, four hours back.
Way to go on the 2500 finds! Liked the photos and the log and that you each got a “find” on this special placement. As you said, on to 3000!

But a job well done to huffinpuffin2. Surely there aren’t too many lonelies left for them in February…
What!? 481 caches on the list and they’ve only knocked off 55. Based on my calculations that leaves 426 for February. 😯
Going for those 426, CJ? 😉
