I don’t think you have to be premium to do a search on caches in Wisconsin. They’ll be listed in numerical order, so just go to the end of the list.

* advanced search
* switch out “”By Postal Code” to “By state/country”
* enter U. S. and WisconsinWhen you get the list, it starts with the most recent caches. Click on the right double arrows to get to the end (page 670 right now). Work backward from there. No 2000 ones but a bunch from 2001.
Don’t know what to do to limit those to your areas. Anything with a code number of GC then 3 letters/digits is pretty old.

Are you sure? Sounds like one of those regional differences to me, like you can tell what part of Wisconsin someone is from by how he/she says “craphas”.
Knowing the etymology of “craphas”, for pronunciation I split the word between the P and the H. Are there those of you who are looking at the word and making the PH the usual blend and saying “craffas”? 😉

Yeah, the Recent Logs page has been a snooze, mostly notes and logs from pre-blizzard. Congrats to today’s brave souls, and here’s to picking up the pace this weekend. (But the craphas will still be there. 😉 )

Most of our travel around Wisconsin recently has been mainly for geocaching purposes, with other things thrown in as we find them. And our out-of-state travel has been to visit family, so we’ve tried to do some caching at our destinations and as we travel to and from them.
We only pick out a relative handful to go for and don’t look for numbers in any area. We look for what sounds interesting or is near interesting places, closeness to our route (but not just PNGs along the interstate), some variety, something that might highlight the area–we like multi “tour” caches of a city– and we check for cache names and descriptions that “speak” to us, saying “Find me”.
On our past long (pre-caching) trips, in addition to scenic and historical places, we would take photos at signs, and we would swing into another state if it was close. Same thing with caching. Found one at the OH-PA border this past summer, plus one just into MI, and another one right next to OH-MI-IN all in one spot. Made sure to look for some of the Indiana SQ caches.
We always pick out way too many caches for the time we have, but with places we revisit, we always can try some more, plus clean up a DNF or two. Works the same way here, except it’s a lot closer. Don’t mind traveling all over Wisconsin–no bad spots to cache here!

Pictures of the craphas or pictures of the measurer?
I think we all know what craphas looks like after today, and our craphas measurer is made of wood and is about 36″ long. Little black marks and numbers all up and down the sides, too. But it’s not an official craphas measurer.
