Picking a caching name is like naming a baby–you’re stuck with the handle forever.
But it was easy for us, being in central Wisconsin and surrounded by sand. Lots of “Sand County” and “Sand” names in businesses and organizations around here. Even Aldo Leopold’s “A Sand County Almanac” is partially about Adams County (October).
So, like people who call themselves highlanders, lowlanders, flatlanders, islanders, etc., etc., as people of the sand, we are sandlanders.
Note: If you google sandlanders, you get lots of stuff about a soccer team in Ghana. That’s not us. 😉
😳 Which is why I missed it on Wednesday, because I thought we had recorded it on Tuesday. Thanks for the correction. I still don’t have that new schedule down yet.
Guess neither one of us can find that show, Cheezehead.
Law and Order: Special Victims Unit — This year’s shows on Tuesday nights 8:00 p.m. on NBC. Past shows on USA and/or other cable channels, various times.
Law and Order — This year’s shows on Friday nights 7:00 p.m. on NBC. Past shows on TNT and/or other cable channels, various times.
Law and Order: Criminal Intent — This year’s shows not on yet. First-run episodes on USA, then on NBC. Past show on cable channels, various times.
NBC has been re-running the week’s new episodes the same week on Saturday nights: original L&O @ 7:00 p.m., SVU @ 9:00 p.m. Therefore, the SVU episode that starts out with the FTF geocachers (make sure you catch the very start) will be on again this Saturday night, October 3 @ 9:00 p.m. on NBC.
This has been your TV Guide update.
And, Cheezehead, if you end up doing a maze on your back 40, please, please, PLEASE be a bit more accurate with your GPS use there than you are on some of your cache placements. You know, that fat fingers thing? 😉
The only corn maze we have visited was one east of Janesville in the fall of 1998 that they made for Wisconsin’s sesquicentennial. It was in the shape of the state with a barn, the sun, and some other symbols inside of the outline. At certain junctions they had signs with questions about Wisconsin (multiple choice), and depending upon your answers, you continued on through the maze or got lost!
I remember them saying that satellites were somehow used to help design and create that maze. Just saw a segment on a Madison station about a 21-year-old who has worked on about 20 corn mazes this summer. Here’s the link: http://www.channel3000.com/news/21154348/detail.html
Congratulations on this accomplishment, Cheeto, but I’m sensing it’s more like giving up something for Lent than it is giving up smoking or drinking. At least, we hope you’ll take up finding caches again . . .
And what’s the longest you’ve gone without eating your favorite orange snack lately? 😉
Arrrrrrggghhhh! Thought I taped that show last night! Can’t get used to the new fall schedule. This one’s on again this Saturday night at 9:00 p.m, though. Thanks for the heads up, Gwyn.

Trekkin’ says it’s probably a good thing he’s more or less let the FTF thing go.
So who got those two by Hustler today? 😉
Hey, Jon! Congratulations on finding #1000! Know you were looking forward to it, so now you can slow down a bit, right? 😉
Happy Birthday and Happy 100!
Congratulations on find #300!
Hey, ZB! Aren’t you almost at 1300 now????? 😉
Congrats on the milestone to the Crazy Caching Biker!
Like CodeJunkie, I couldn’t find where this was specifically addressed. Found this:
12b. A cache can only be “DNFed” while active. If the owner or reviewers disable or archive the cache, it is out of play.
Does the second part refer only to the DNF in the preceding statement, or to all actions regarding archived and disabled caches?I’ve seen lots of “Found It” logs on archived caches (as well as disabled ones), but that’s for GC/smiley purposes, not LCG purposes.
The ways to score in section 5 of the rules appear to be mutually exclusive, but that is not specifically stated.
Maybe something to firm up for the 2010 season???? Is it too soon to start thinking about Year 3 of the LCG?
Finally finished logging from yesterday’s outing!
