About temps . . . Never having been to an event with temps, just wondering how they work. Are cachers given only the coords or are there ratings and size descriptions and hints and cache pages to read for each one? Are there logs to sign or a sheet to stamp?
And when the call goes out before each event for volunteers to help hide the temps, is this just for the physical hiding, like place this cache here and this cache there, or are those volunteers supposed to come up with some cache ideas, too? Any enlightenment would be welcome.
Hey, pezmon! Congrats on #300!
Congrats on #800, Opps5!
Congrats on #500, ube66!
Didn’t check into the links here, but just had the following come up and thought I’d mention it here.
We just got back from visiting friends and family in central Illinois, and we found that there was a new cache in the cemetery where my in-laws are buried. That doesn’t bother us, and the hide was in a tree away from the stones, but the wording on the cache page showed, in our opinion, little thought or respect for a cache placed in a cemetery: “Easy park and grab. We decided to scatter some caches in the area and see if they will stick around. The cache is in a local cemetary so please be respectful and visit during daylight hours. It is a micro so bring your own writing stick and remember to write small.”
The first two sentences really grated. And so much more could have been said about this place, but the cache owners chose not to. The same cache owners did mention a bit about the cemetery that my husband’s grandparents are buried in (another quick cache), and nothing about “easy P&G”, etc., but there were like TEN petrified trees in that one, and lots of memorial areas.
As long as cachers view cemeteries only as playgrounds for a game, placements in them will be in jeopardy.
Mark is still retired. Pat’s sad. 😉
Is everyone watching the Packers’ game? 🙄
Wish the video came in better for me, but still got to see it. Thanks for the post, and a special “thank you” to Allie and your family!

One thought for all to consider: Nearly every community has a need for extra school supplies for those who have a hard time financially. When you are out there purchasing supplies, pick up a couple extra things and donate them to the cause. 😀
Yep. Just had “Stuff the Bus” pick-up in the area yesterday, but you can drop off donations for your local schools any time. Thanks for the reminder, Labrat.
WOW! 9 lb. 7 oz. — that’s a lot of baby to deliver! No wonder it took so long! But he’s still just a little guy, so give him lots of hugs and squeezes.
Congrats, Grandma Gwyn and Grandpa Dick on this BIG milestone!
OK, so we’re driving home from having supper with my dad, and we go by this riding stable that has (and remember, today is August 21) THEIR HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS UP!!!!!! A whole ring of sheet ghosts, and a fake cemetery, same ones they had last year.
I know that they have a big Pumpking/Halloween event at the end of October, but puhh-LEEZ! August 21?????!!!!!!!! 🙄 🙄 🙄
So, the most recently announced unemployment rate was higher than anticipated. And what about that national health care debate???? And don’t forget global warming!
Brett Favre? 🙄 🙄 🙄
Well, we WILL be attending the event, so we are grateful for all the work this committee has done and will be doing to make the day enjoyable for all. And with Cheezehead on board now, you can be guaranteed of good weather for the picnic this year. He has the “gift”. 😉
Congratulations on the 600 finds, baileyhk!
