Congrats on the 5500 finds, Lagrac! Nice to see you over our way, but with the big numbers, you do get around a bit.

Kind of like the digital conversion. Heard about it forever, but it was a long time in coming. Lots of things to iron out. At least we shouldn’t have to get a converter box!

Congrats on 4500, TE! Just missed you out east. Hot enough there?

Traffic!!!! I went through the Dells for the first time in my life on Saturday, and I will never, ever, ever, go back there!!!!! The one exception will be to find the NFL Challenge, and I still won’t go unless it’s in the middle of winter. Even then I’m not entirely sure if I will go. I know people are trying to make a living out there but, one has to be absolutely nuts off the rocker to want to go there. No offense to those living there, or those that like it out there. It sure isn’t my cup of brandy. I would most definitely bypass this town on my travels.

Mistake #1: Going in the summer.
Mistake #2: Going on a weekend.

If we want to do something in the Dells, we go mid-week. If we can bypass most of the Strip, we will. If we go south like to Madison, we pick a different route entirely. And if you need directions next time, just give me a shout.

Now, furfool, what’s the traffic like where you live? 😉

Oh, thank you for bringing this thread back to the surface so I didn’t have to go searching for it.

Speaking from the perspective of an out-of-state traveler, never to return to certain areas for possibly quite some time, I do not like I-Zoom, I-Pass, EZ-Pass, or whatever lets cars on toll roads bypass the cash lanes. (I’m not talking about for commuting purposes, which are good for those who do that every day.) We do not live there, we do not often travel there, it would not be worth our while to purchase one of these passes, so we are made to suffer in cash only lanes where even having the right change doesn’t matter.

Seven lanes at the eastern edge of Indiana, everyone has to stop and pay toll. Three lanes cash only, all backed up to who knows where, four lanes for the “Pass People”, maybe a car every thirty seconds or so going through, not even a truck. Nice way to promote travel in your state. Grr-rrrrr… 👿 👿 👿

That’s not a cache log–that’s pure poetry. As an avid believer in logs that tell stories, this one says it all.

Congratulations to two great caching juggernauts! It was so nice of you to “host” an event to let everyone share in this mega milestone, but it was even nicer that the two teams could accomplish this feat together with families along, even the two little ones.

                    To Ralph, Seth, and Marie–Huzzah, Huzzah! 😀 😀 😀

And now all of you can go back to what you do best–finding hidden containers for the fun of it, and let the numbers fall where they may.

That place is awesome! Be sure to read all the logs on the cache page. Lots of stories, including a trip to the ER by early visitors due to bee stings. Something about “spider island” makes people want to take lots of pictures there, too. Fun to read the different experiences people had at different times of the year. We went last fall and didn’t get our feet wet at all. Oh, and at that time Team Honeybunnies had around 7900 finds, as we noted. Guess our visit was before the “surprise”, though. Can’t believe we attempted this 4 terrain, but it wasn’t too bad for us.

Just like it is in how everyone plays his or her own caching game. Not known for our numbers, it works better for us if we space out the caching days a bit, and half of the team would prefer to take winter respites from caching. But if it gets us off our rears and on the trails (a line I’ve been know to use) . . . I wouldn’t take just a “walk” like some of them we’ve done for caches–up, down, twisty trails, heat, cold, skeet, ticks, knee-deep snow. Still won’t do much swampin’, though.

Retired, have the time available, but lots of other things on the agenda. All things in moderation (except chocolate!).

Just put out our second letterbox hybrid. Like doing the cache pages better than carving the stamps, but for the right price, Cheezehead, I could be convinced to make a stamp for you, “if you want it.”

Ammo cans in Army surplus section of Fleet-Farm (not the same as Farm and Fleet).

Lock-and-lock: Found them in housewares containers section at WalMart (don’t know if they’re official ones, but that’s what they say and that’s what they look like). Spray paint them with the Krylon fusion paint for plastic (also at WM).

Oh, and ditto on the orange waterproof match holders at WM.
