Cachers hiding and finding placements in cemeteries need to keep the location in mind. This is a cemetery, not a game field, and should be treated with respect. Don’t go placing caches willy-nilly in every cemetery you can find, and don’t go running around laughing and joking when you are searching for them. These are reminders we all need from time to time.

Try finding a few of the “WSQ” caches to get a feel of how they are handled before placing any.

Nothing like a good, detailed log for caching entertainment (and getting information about a cache). Good, bad, or ugly–sure beats a TFTC!

We loved that cache, too. You picked a great place for a milestone (except for the ticks). Congrats!

Congrats to Cheezehead on finding this cache over the weekend. Sounds like the hide had a bit of a challenge to it, too. Will you be trying more of pfalstad’s puzzles?

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Wisconsin and finding all sorts of caches in the Madison area. We’ve been seeing your logs pop up on the “Recent Logs” list here the past few days, and we now know that you are known as the “Puzzle Queen”, and your stats show it. Wow! Lots of numbers on the blue Q-marks!

Thanks for sharing the photos, and if those characters in the pics can vouch for you, we’ll let you come back anytime you want. 😉

There were a bunch of cut-and-paste logs earlier this spring of a cacher driving through and finding lots of “cleaver” hides. Talk about something that shouldn’t be left in caches! (Or maybe Wally and the Beav were the cache owners. 😉 )

Is there a Level 5 terrain involved there? 😉

With you in spirit but not in body. We’ll watch your YouTube clip.

Now we know who has that that vehicle in the photo in another forum!

But as far as attending an event? Sure. But then we usually log our DNFs, so we would hopefully be a contributor not a receiver of any mini-lessons. (Miss the teaching already, Birdin’?) I’ll go over our DNFs and see if we have any that might be appropriate for this thread.

Maybe we can all get bumper stickers: “Proud logger of a DNF!”

Today Gramps and the two sandlanders made geocaching presentations to two groups of naturalists and interpreters as part of the three-day DNR State Parks Interpretation Workshop. Today’s activities were at Hartman Creek State Park, and since geocaching (along with questing) seemed to be the Grand Finale, we hope we left everyone wanting more.

Since many of these people already knew something about geocaching (thanks to Greyhounder and zuma from last year), we focused on them placing caches on their own properties and working with area geocachers to increase the profile and activity of geocaching in state parks and other DNR properties. We hope many of you get contacted for your input and maybe even get the chance to bring more people into Wisconsin geocaching.

The bulk of each presentation was having the attendees pair up and work with the GPS units. They first learned how to put coordinates into the provided GPS receivers, then after some other brief instruction on the use of the units, they went out to find some cache containers that the three of us had previously placed a quarter of a mile or less from the starting location. We would then circulate to provide guidance and assistance when necessary, but it was exciting to see how quickly most of our “students” picked up the skill of following their receivers to the cache locations.

If you ever get the opportunity to share your enthusiasm about geocaching, whether it is officially through something like this, or a Geocaching 101 type event, or through local schools and youth groups, or unofficially with newer cachers you may meet, be they family, friends, or total strangers, helping someone discover or perfect a new skill is as great a high as finding that ammo can in the woods!

                              Thanks for the opportunity, Bec!

WOW! Way to go zoesbrother! Isn’t it great to have the whole summer ahead of you? Which will come first: 1000 finds or 1000 posts in the WGA forums?

                                  Congrats on find #900, ZB!
