WOW! Only 9800 or so to go! Guess we’d better start caching faster.

Seriously, thanks to everyone who puts out caches. We haven’t gotten to too many, but we certainly like the variety to choose from when we go out and about this great state!

Another one in the 1000 club (JimandLinda), and another one not too far behind (jjcool719). Congratulations to you both!

Last Saturday I joined the Fifth Annual Cemetery Walk put on by the Adams County Historical Society. A tour goes to two or three area cemeteries where “spirits” give stories of their lives and the area as they knew it. Some of the stories are touching, some are humorous, all are informative.

This year was a large group and there was some chatter, and some walking on the graves, and even a few headstones were leaned on at times during the narratives, but I think everyone was respectful. I felt it was living history, and the people who had died 50 or 150 years ago became more real to me.

Coming from a long line of “scatter the ashes” people, I never had much occasion to visit cemeteries until geocaching (and until we got older and more people we knew…well, you know), but I can’t see laughing and running around looking for information or containers, especially when mourners are present.

I do think WSQ caches are valid and a good source of information and history. Respect is the key.

Maybe back then, but I think the GC number is assigned when you submit the cache for the first time. That doesn’t mean it is published then, so a later date might be on it.

We put out our first caches this spring, but we fiddled around with a cache page for quite a bit, then waited for permission, etc., so our GC1A_ _ _ cache was put out later than our GC1B_ _ _ cache that we put together and got published quicker.

What a varied group we all are! 200 or 3000 or none or gazillion . . . Some like micros some like ammo cans. Some like cemeteries, some like long hikes. Some go alone, others team cache. Some stay close to home, others go out of state or out of the country.

Urban caches, rural caches, travel bugs, geocoins, event caches, temporary caches, one a day, a hundred a day, summer, winter, ticks, skeets, wet feet, sunburn, Garmin, Magellan, Milwaukee, Hayward, Waukesha, Eagle River, Green Bay, LaCrosse, Janesville, Portage, Stevens Point, Wausau, Appleton, Eau Clarie, pine trees, skirt lifters, puzzles (pro and con), smilies, DNF, TFTC, TNLNSL, CITO…

                      Are we having fun yet?!!!

Yes, go out and get some of these travel bugs! The kids have worked hard on them, and their travel bugs are a lot better than some we’ve seen in caches. The TBs have their mission statements with them, they’re protected in plastic bags, and they’re ready to go.

Don’t worry if the mission seems too grand for you to help one along. If you can just get it moving, someone down the line will eventually take it to Paris or to California or to the ocean or whatever. I would have loved to have done a project like this when I was in school!

Don’t blink! This cachin’ couple will have added another milestone if you do! Thought “back-to-school” would have slowed you down, T&B, but evidently not.

                          Congrats on notching #3000! 😀 😀 😀
