And our grandson his hoop and stick. Cabbages make great sauerkraut, which is done without electronics, too.
But your granddaughter’s doll has a face, plus a beautiful spangled gown, albeit hand-crafted by her cabbage-boiling granny.
“Boil that cabbage down.” Yee-haw!
We don’t have a smart phone. I have been disheartened by the increasing move towards that technology by The Frog and his friends, and one of these days we might no longer be able to play this game with just a receiver and access to a computer. As with vinyl albums turning to eight-tracks, and then to cassette tapes, and then CDs… and now downloading music… we may find ourselves having to adapt or die, so to speak.
Do I like it? No. Will I someday have to get a smart phone? Who knows? Maybe one of these days I will have to raise my receiver in my fist over my head and pronounce loudly… “From my cold dead hands!”
(I am on the Book of Faces, but my preferred social media is the WGA Thread Stealers’ Thread and the other forums on the WGA website.)
The Lonley Cache Game started in 2008, and the first two events were held in the next two years as social events where participants in the LCG and other cachers could get together to swap stories and discuss the game. Since the LCG is a WGA activity, the organization eventually got involved with promotional and financial support, but it was still up to cachers to organize and run the event. This would involve choosing a location and date to hold the event (convenient for the planners and possible attendees), deciding on a program for the event, determining what if any recognition would be given to top LCG players for the year, and also providing for the social aspect of the annual LCG event (food, etc.). It helps when those stepping up to organize the event have had experience with the LCG, since the history of, reasons for, and details of the game are large parts of what is discussed in the “formal” part of the event. Once the who-where-when of the even is finalized (the original post by the WGA president was for volunteers for this), if the organizers would need/appreciate any help on making everything come together, as in any event, the call will go out for volunteers for the specific event.
LCG events have been held in the months of January and February in the past, and the locales of Appleton, Wisconsin Dells, Horicon Wildlife Center near Mayville (3), Mosquito Hill Nature Center near New London, and Mead Wildlife Center near Milladore. The first two events were hosted by seldom|seen and then uws22 under their own profiles, but the rest can be found under the WGA profile, as Labrat mentioned, here:
Then youβre doing pretty well. My count for this year is 2.
Five… from two separate outings. Nothing unfound very close to us anymore. Not a big fan of winter caching.
When Becky and I get together… no one is safe! π
Gee, BC… No one seemed too worried when the two of us weren’t doing any posting for those three hours this afternoon that we were chatting at the blue-roof place. π
Thanks for reminding me, jar42. I need funding to support my lunch habit. Went out twice last week, three times expected for this week. Only one of those five involved Mr. S. He’s going to do laundry while I’m out and about today. π
Friday evening might be decent enough for the two of us to go out for fish. It’s been a while.
She shoots! She scores!

Should I let this one sit or take it myself? Guess you know the answer.
Time for the pirate to get a puppy… or a parrot.
Kind of. Post-Christmas cleaning. Actually, I went out for a five-hour lunch with the ladies and gave Mr. S permission to clear off the dining room table. We can now see bare wood again, and I have three boxes of “stuff” to go over and organize… or pitch. Great alternative to winter caching on cold days.
Great to hear from Hotdogs! Hi, Jeff and Bonnie! Wisconsin misses you! And so do we! Hotdogs caches are the best, and we have a few yet to find… if the new owners have left your name on the cache pages. Otherwise, we will be going by memory as to which were yours, unless you have a bookmark of your old WI caches to share.
Glad to know that you lurk here every now and then. π
Well, then, Thursday it is! π
