I frequently check the cache rescue list, but there are never any missions in our area. I know of some local caches that have been archived, some by the owners, some by the reviewers. Many of these never have any notes on the archived pages that someone has checked on the area and/or retrieved anything that may be left.
If a cache is archived because several cachers say they couldn’t find it or it had gone missing, and the cache is disabled either by the owner or by the reviewers for inaction by the owner, is it just assumed that there is nothing left to find if it is missing?
If you know of anything in our area that needs checking on, we’ll be glad to give it an attempt (but nothing in the snows or icebox soon to come).
Central Wisconsin (between Wisconsin Rapids and Wisconsin Dells):
Early maples are getting bare, other maples still good, nut trees and ash are yellow.
Peak should be this coming week for everything but the oaks, especially if there is wind and rain. If you have to come on the weekend, Oct. 10-12 should be the best, but still good color Oct. 17-19.
Flannel sheets back on the bed. 🙁
No problem hijacking the thread. Not many others about letterboxing except for T&B’s little stamp escapade. 😉
And speaking of that, where do you get supplies to make your own stamps? Art supply stores? Is it like carving and making block prints like we did in art class many moons ago (for us)?
I think I’m kind of like LB7 about paperwork and permission–so many ideas going on, but not getting anywhere with them. Lots of details to attend to. And then there’s that bit about doing stuff around the house to get ready for winter, etc. 🙁
Back to letterboxing–I like the ones that tell more of a story than just directions, but that could take up as much of a page as an EarthCache! I want something more than just, “Here are the coordinates, now go find the box with the stamp in it.”
Looks like only one space between WSQ and the name, too.
Thanks, FF-man and marc5digits.

I have never met anyone along the cache trail. Seeing all of your names in caches across the state sure makes it feel as I have though.
You’ve expressed our sentiments exactly! It’s nice seeing who’s found the same caches you have, or who caches in your area, or who’s visiting there.
Welcome to the Big Happy Family!!!
Hey, thanks everybody. We have to admit, that after a certain point on our solve of “Darkness…”, we had a 💡 moment, thanks to remembering something we had learned at a puzzle class given by Marc (shameless plug for his next one).
Sure missed going to the GeoPicnic, which is why we did a bunch of caches in that area when we went to the ball game. Lostby7 and many others have some great caches there, and we have more to find on our next trip SE.
We might get a milestone in Appleton someday, but it won’t be all at once. We’ll leave that power caching to the young’uns…like Noah! (He’s still way ahead of us…)
Way to go, bugsmasher69! What a cache-smasher! 1000!
We’re glad we’re close to a lot of your hides, although we have many, many more of them to hunt and find.
Thanks and congratulations! 😀 😀 😀
Yay, Bandits! We’ve missed you, too. Glad things are moving along for you. And now 3500! 😀

That has a little bit of the flavor of the MN State Park Challenge. If you complete a geographical quarter of the parks you’ve attained one level, and there’s another if you complete the whole enchilada.
I’ve talked with Zuma about this being a fun idea to steal for Wisconsin. There are at least several state parks I haven’t been to.
We like the state parks idea, too, but the Minnesota Challenge goes only till the end of this year, at least for the coin prizes. That kind of limits the completion for most people, especially those from farther away. A challenge like this should be ongoing.

Perhaps that would be a good way to approach it…each criminal resides in a different state park…
Let’s not give outsiders the idea that criminals are roaming on the loose in Wisconsin State Parks! 😯 Maybe use something for each park that is associated with it and use the trading card idea, or maybe have friendly mascots for each park or logos or numbers for each park.
Congrats on the 1K milestone!
Just hink how many finds you would have if you didn’t have to take all that time “helping” Noah write his logs! 😉
Congrats on the 8000!
Like Brewers. Like Cubs. Big dilemma!
Marc is back to being Dutch!
