Did you get that tough cache in Virginia on top of a hill or whatever that you were thinking about going for in July?
And don’t forget to do your make-up school work when you get back! 😉
Back to the topic…
We use our yellow eTrex H that we got a year ago. We don’t do tons of caches, so we’ve kept things on the cheap except for gas. The receiver gets us close to most caches, just once in a while giving us fits with now five feet, now forty, etc.
When it was consistently off, we found that the coordinates were off because other cachers would mention that in their logs. Usually we start looking for obvious spots when we get close to GZ.
When placing a cache, we find our spot, back off, go back, etc., a few times to get some readings, maybe 5-7. Then we average those to get our coordinates to post.
We even hand enter coords. when searching for caches–tedious, but it’s something we can comfortably do rather than going through a bunch of bells and whistles with receiver and computer.

Well, it appears that Stacy has directed me to her last cache, and has went to a place where she will be granted her wings!…
…The injuries appear to be fatal, however she has lived a good Life.
The Wake will be in the Very near future, with burial to follow as a new cache container.
RIP Old Girl! You will be Sincerely Missed!
I thought Stacy was more than “broke”.
Need more info on that M & M salad before making any serious commitments.
Liked reasons #3, 8, 10, and 12, but need a few more people to cite reason #13 to us.
Oh, and that “somebody else” in reason #12? Need you to sign that guarantee in blood — squeezed from a million skeeter bodies to whom you have donated so that they won’t be hungry at the picnic!
Congratulations on the the Big 2K!!!
(And some may ask, “Y2K?”) 😉
Those earthcaches are a lot of work to place and find. Congrats on succeeding in both, especially the 100 find milestone! 😀 😀 😀
Hey, labrat_wr…Way To Go! 8)
Are you going to be another 1K member in 2008?
Not only a great finder, but a great hider. Thanks.
😛 😛 😛
We have the etrex H, too. Kind of primitive next to most, but it gets the job done for us. And the best thing is, when you can’t find a cache, you can blame it on that antiquated receiver you have!
Really, we like it and it’s the one we chose to get last fall when we started out, and it does the job we need it to.
Oh, dear. Now we really DO feel inadequate!
Used on caches in Wisconsin cemeteries. Cache placers use the standard notation to indicate that these are in cemeteries in case you want to look them up easily. There are TONS to find, thanks to marc_54140 and many others.
There are many types of hides using a WSQ listing (all should be respectful of the location,) and it can be quite a learning experience to visit these places.
Glad to know you survived your ordeal. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself, and it was a great day for outdoor activity!
Congratulations on #800! Don’t know how you find the time, but we’re glad to see you out there in the game instead of staring at cache pages all the time! 😀 😀 😀
Way to go! Got to keep ahead of those family members!
Way to go! Next stop..#3000! 😀
