Chocolate marshmallow is good. As a FOTD, I also go for Bonfire S’mores, Double Marshmallow Oreo, and Andes Mint Avalanche. I would really like Rocky Road if it didn’t have the rocks (nuts) in it, but then it would just be chocolate marshmallow… which takes us back to the beginning of this post.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MRS. HACK!
More “on this day in history”: Eight years ago today I joined the WGA. I did not make a post for a week or two, but when I did, it was in the drivel and it was about mint chip. Some things never change, even after eight years. 😉
And that post ^^^ was :13:
And now a trip down memory lane…
It was seven years ago today (1/17/2009) that we attended our first social event and met many Wisconsin geocachers for the first time, including some familiar names from the drivel over the years. This would be the first Lonely Cache Game event, which was held in Appleton and hosted by seldom|seen. We were privileged to meet both him and Sagasu, two early big-time players in the LCG, as well as once again getting to chat with marc_54140, whom we knew from attending one of his educational events the previous year.
Before the event, we were running around town “chasing nanos”, as it was called by some folks we met while looking for puzzle finals… all of Team Black-Cat plus GetMeOutdoors, who was traveling with the cats. Still great friends with TBC to this day. At the event we met for the first–but certainly not last–time: zoesbrother, Trekkin’ and Birdin’, and Labrat. Seven years later, and we can talk to those friends about so much more than caching. We also met and talked with zuma, KSpud, Team Honeybunnies, and uws22, and we have run into those cachers at many events since. Last but not least, while we were at the same event, we did not get meet JimandLinda, and Mister Greenthumb and Sunshine. They were not big drivelers at the time, if at all, so they were more of an unknown to us, and with all those in attendance, we did not get to talk with them, an oversight that has thankfully since been remedied.
There were others at that event whom we may have met, and names that we now recognize, but because of the thread stealer connection, we remember those folks the best, and the impact of that first social event for us is still with us. It’s been a great seven years, everyone! 😀
In addition to coming up to post #8500, this is also page 567.
Are you allergic to FTPs now, BBG? 😉
Eight more posts till #8500.
I might actually log the SP caches I found in November.
I just logged the three caches we found a week ago, but I still have two from the summer home that we found two months ago. Guess there’s nothing else to do today. It would be nice to be caught up on logging for the first time in almost four months. 🙄
Fourteen more posts until new drivel post #8500…
The football game is a blowout, and it’s too cold to be out caching, so post away!
Paypal.
A year and two days ago we lost the gun-toting Kermit… 🙁 It is fitting that you are remembering him this way, BBG.
It would be nice to get this FTP …
It would be nice if there were some pathtags left by the time we are able to attend a WGA event… 😕
Have a good time at the chili event today, everyone. I think I may stay home and make my own chili.
We have lots of chilly here! 😉
Friday night in the forums.
Palindrome page!
FYI… On February 29 the FOTD at the Sussex blue-roof place is Strawberry Shortcake.
