Taking the page FTP to set up whoever wants Sunday’s FTP.
Only for any IATA-owned properties, Noonan, according to Deejay’s informational post about eight months ago…
Hi guys, It has been a while since I posted here, but we have been notified of a situation relevant to cache placers. The Ice Age Trail Alliance has decided to prohibit geocaches on all their owned lands. Note that the Ice Age Trail passes through many properties that are not owned by the IATA, and this only applies to lands that they own. It explicitly does not apply to state park lands, county parks, etc. Most of the lands owned by the IATA are in Polk, Dane, and Washington counties, but there are small parcels in many counties. If you own a cache on one of their properties, you will receive an email from me detailing your options, which are basically that you can archive your cache or I can archive it for you. Note that this is a change of policy by the IATA and not any indication that you did anything wrong with your cache placement. They did not provide any reason for their change in policy, other than that they wanted to be a good stewards for the land. On a related note, they also expressed concern that there were caches placed along the trail on other properties that were placed without permission. Please be aware that ALL geocaches must have permission from the landowner or land manager. This is not optional. If you have caches on private lands that the Ice Age Trail passes through, please make sure that your permissions are in order, as I’m sure they will be looking. Finally, please understand that we did our best to try to change their minds on this decision, but were not successful. If you want to discuss this with them, please try to be respectful and calm. I know this is disappointing to all of us, but we don’t need to make us look bad as a group. Thanks for understanding, Wis Kid / Team Deejay / Dave
And this is post #13 on page 1362 in the second version of the Thread Stealers’ Thread.
(Take that, worms!)
I’ll take the FTP, amita17. Thanks.
I passed you on the way home, Noonan. You were pulled off just east of Auburndale getting a P&G hide on the side road. I waited until I was going south on the highway north of the Rapids to do the same thing.
I suppose I should write my log for that one AND my attended log for the event now…
To repeat my post from the end of the previous page…
Wisconsin State Wildlife area are OK to place caches in. (Federal areas have different rules for their properties.) Just did some IAT hiking in the Greenwood northeast of Coloma today. Lots of caches in there but I’ve found them all. State natural areas, no. State wildlife areas, OK. State fisheries, OK. Just make sure to fill out the DNR notification form and submit to them.
FTP for the four-peat. Thanks for filling the previous page with some interesting posts, thread stealers!

This is my third FTP in a row. For pages. Not the ones for the days. I don’t have any of those FTPs.
My last post in September was post #1 on this page. My first post in October is post #15 on this page… eleven days later.
Two page FTPs in a row for me and I haven’t posted in eight days.
Where is ZB when you need him? 👿
FTP.
Getting some good fall color here.
“Peanut Gallery” is still on the list because there has been no new finder in over three years. Your “refind” gets you points for that, and now no one else can get points for checking on that particular hide until someone logs a DNF. Then someone can check to see if it is still there and get new recheck points. Also, as the CO if I were to make and log a maintenance check, that cache would not be eligible for rechecking points until a new DNF. Someone finding and logging a certain cache for the very first time, whether or not they are playing the LCG, would take that cache off the next new LCG list. There is no limit to how many people can log a cache for their first time locating it and take game points while it is on a current list, but only the first finder who logs for points in that time frame will get the bonus points for the cache being long-term lonely.
Just plain “#13” would be a definite ticket through the wormhole… but this is post #13 on this page.
There are two events in Wisconsin Rapids next week that are not shown on the events calendar to the right on these pages. They are: Mini Golf and Greet (GCACGDK) on Monday, August 28, and Make a Bollard Buddy E-Vent (GCAC800) on Tuesday, August 29. The Golf one is 10:00 to 1:00 and the Bollard one is 6:00 to 7:00. Central Wisconsin cachers might enjoy attending one or both of these closer events, and others from farther away might also enjoy exploring the area to find a few newer caches.
