Well over land now. Just a couple of hours or so out. Too bad the Bears aren’t playing at home. That would be cool to fly over a full Soldier Field on their approach.
Past Greenland now, soon to be done with crossing the Pond.
Travel is great, but coming back home is better. Hope Hannah can finish that Wendy’s burger before she hits the hay in her own bed.
Wheels up in 6 hours. Canβt wait to see her.
Nothing like stalking a teenager at 36,000 feet on an international flight…

Eight years ago today we found our first cache. We did not go caching today.
Same here.
(And hello, Hitman4!)
The original thread started on March 2, 2007. There were many kinds of beer back then, but it was all just about… beer.
Whoa, itβs been a long time since there was a discussion of beer on here. It was a staple in the first incarnation of the thread (at least the 300 pages I read of it).
The original discussion of beer was just that… beer. Beer, bonfires, and fireworks. And then s’mores. Since that time it appears that the drivelers have been conducting extensive research, so no longer is it just… beer.
Good enough for our unsophisticated palates!
Another “old habits die hard” story about Mr. S (if you have been following on the book of faces)… He still likes to get Coors because back in the day it never could be sold east of the Mississippi, so it was a real treat to have. I remember when we went on our first trip to Colorado in 1976, we came home with a couple of cases (and I don’t mean suitcases) in the trunk of our car. We have a few cans in the fridge right now that are left over from the 12-pack we bought earlier this year for ??? (We don’t drink enough to become connoisseurs.)
The wind blew down half of a huge tree on the south end of town just after 3:00 this afternoon. Of course, it fell on the wires, so we were without power until 5:00. Went out to eat on the north end of town anyway, and everyone else had the same idea. Some folks eating there were still without power. Stopped by the action on our way home, and there are still a couple of blocks without power, and the tree is still blocking the alley. The power company people were still up in a bucket working on the connections, but the tracks were open and the traffic control people were gone. We have just finished practicing for a couple of weeks from now when we have to change all of our clocks to CST.
I finally remembered to look at our souvenirs to see if we had gotten the one for the EC we did on Sunday. It was there.
You once thought you were going to Ireland yourself, jar42, except they typed the second letter of the destination on your ticket as a C instead of an R, so you ended up elsewhere. π
And now it’s time for…
Sorry to split your posts, BBG.
Eleven months for the new drivel, NR93. Glad you made your return visit during October, which is “Homecoming in the Drivel Month”. π
Wonder if we’ll see any other “old timers” back here before November 1. -
