We know of a guy who got into some trouble betting on athletic events. When the trouble was over (with some counseling along with time served) and dues and debts were paid, the guy said it now really felt good to cheer for teams and players he actually wanted to, not who he had money on.

We don’t play pretend football, nor do we get too emotionally invested in particular teams. We have the ones we support and cheer for, but if they do not perform well, we know that our involvement was for entertainment purposes only. Our lives still go on. Since we don’t despair when they lose, we don’t do any bullying of others when they win…
