Labrat and done some work, and now so have I. There are nominees in all the categories, with four days left to nominate others and/or vote. I’m ready with more good caches to nominate in September. Let your voices be heard, and give some great hides some special recognition by the WGA and its members.
Even if a category is uncontested and the nominated hide is a “shoe-in”, it’s still nice to vote for the cache to show your support and appreciation if you found it and liked it.
OK, this may be TMI, and I debated about sharing it, and you certainly won’t see it from me on the Book of Faces, but here is one of those “You know you’re a geocacher if…” stories.
Driving up to Minnesota on Monday, I experienced severe vomiting, so much so that we cut our trip short, and I spent the night in the hospital at Menomonie. Everything’s fine now, but I was puking quite a bit between Black River Falls and Eau Claire, stopping frequently alongside the road as the urge hit (every few miles). At one point during a respite in the dry heaves (which it was by then), I looked up to catch my breath, and there across the interstate fence and through the trees and bushes, I could see some headstones. Asked myself if there could be a cache in that cemetery, made a note of where we were then, checked it out after coming home. Yep, we will need to go find GC13H1Z now… 🙄

Make it a doghouse… a tail-waggin’ one.
I am still not a hero.
You’re a hero in my book, BBG!

The Bears fans will appreciate that second one.
The Bears fans have put that one on their “ignore” lists.
Bye-bye, bots.
It’s bot French now.
Can you read bot Spanish, Noonan? Or bot Norwegian?
It’s been ages since we’ve placed a new cache… 😕
I just woke up from a nap.
and a double post I guess
Or did you have two scoops of caramel cashew?
You need to quit looking for those archived caches, CTQ… 😉
You can get packets of sunflower seeds with the rest of the seeds (flowers, veggies) in the spring. Plant according to the directions on the packet. They are not perennials, and they will be damaged by frost (spring/fall). We usually plant seeds in mid-May or a bit later. As their name says, sunflowers like lots of sun. The fancier colors and varieties are done the same way as the regular yellow ones. Just check out what is available and buy the ones that strike your fancy.
We have had problems with squirrels digging up the young seedlings and ripping off the seed heads when they develop, and the bunnies (aka terrorists) will chomp on anything. We have grown single plants in pots on the deck, but those have needed staking or tying to keep them upright in the later stages.
If you put out sunflower seeds to feed the birds in the winter, there are usually some “volunteer” sunflowers that pop up near the feeders, and if they end up in out-of-the-way spots, we leave them to develop as if we had planted them ourselves. You can even save out some of the seeds from your big bags of bird seed and plant those in your garden in the spring.
