Don’t worry, Labrat. No one here wants to plink you. (But you might want to stay away from the dump.)
And we must wish Mr. GT a happy three-month birthday, but more importantly, today is the actual birthday of Mrs. GT, aka Sunshine. It’s also the birthday of RT, who hasn’t been here in ages, but she and the boys were at our recent event at the summer home.
ZB’s birthday was yesterday, and he won his bike race over the weekend. He hasn’t made it to the new website yet.
The LCG list for July/August states at the top that the ones on the list have not been found since September 6, 2013. Looks like yours missed the cut-off by a couple of weeks. 🙁
Lots of campfires at Roche-A-Cri SP this evening. Place is about 3/4 full, and the smoke is thick in the humid air.
(We’re not camping…. just doing our usual drive-through for entertainment.)Marla will be 73 next month and has both of her original knees. Mr. S is younger, but with the two fake knees. I am younger than both, and with my original knees, and I sat in the car all day. Age is relative.
Today Mr. Sandlanders and our neighbor completed a 43-mile bike ride from south to north on the eastern side of the county… the entire length of County Road G. Got it done in about five hours and fifteen minutes, and the overcast really helped in the hilly southern section. The strong tailwind helped on the northern flats after the sun came out. I was the support crew in the car for the journey.

Our experience has been to remove the sticker as carefully as you can and bring the pieces to a DNR service center or park office to have them give you a new sticker. There was no cost to us to do this. To make sure this is still the case, you can call the nearest DNR or park office and ask.
The old sticker would not be transferable because it tears apart when you try to remove it from the windshield, even when using a razor blade. Make sure to remove the sticker and save the pieces before the car ends up with someone else.
A lot of the area farmers have grown sunflowers over the years. Not sure if it’s for bird seed or for people snacks or both, but they do rotate the crops in and out. This field has been peas, green beans, sweet corn, maybe potatoes… It’s big time irrigation farming.
It’s always a delight to spot a field of these yellow blooms.

Pat, I was just about to write that we saw two big fields of sunflowers on 73, just west of 39 a bit but it looks you found them already.
Nope, these were east of Friendship at the intersection of 10th and Czech… north of “Trillium Trail” and our “Logging” caches. We knew the fields were there, but today as he rode his bike, Mr. S spotted them blooming. Then we drove out there to spend some quality time with the flowers. Should be good for a while.

Summer sun in Sandland:

Really? You must need more veggies in your diet!
I had veggies for lunch yesterday. They were green. Maybe too green… 😈
Yesterday we spent some time with Trekkin’ and Birdin’ in their neck of the woods, and while sitting in the shade of their estate chatting with them and Pooh’s Pal, we were offered bowls of ice cream for a treat. It was a favorite flavor of the little guy’s… Superman or something like that… and it was colored gaudy shades of pink, yellow, and… blue. I do not need to tell you what was observed this morning here in Sandland… 🙄
I just checked in for the first time in about 6 hours. Looks like we were attacked by a woodpecker while I was out.
Now we’ve been attacked by a strawberry. 😉
