      Summary without the supporting details:

Consistency when working with DNR properties –the big one being that most local properties have no policy on firewood use to restrict the spread of the emerald ash borer.

Ah, screw it!  Too hard replicate.  This is not fun anymore.  Good-bye.

My lengthy, well-thought out reply to the above post has disappeared.

        Really???  Really???

Sorry, I couldn’t find the actual campout thread in my haste…it is in a county park, not a state park, so no sticker/fee required, is this correct?

Correct. This is a county park so no state park sticker is required.

This is true for this particular county park.  Not sure about other Marathon County parks, but all of the Adams County parks require a fee to enter.  This is also true of some county parks elsewhere, so while no state park sticker is required for this year’s campout location, this does not imply that other events at other county parks do not require their own stickers/fees.

Personally, I would like to see the WGA choose state properties over local ones for the spring campouts and the fall picnics.  The statewide consistency of policies and fees for those properties are known to most people who cache in our state, and those buying state parks stickers to attend those events can use them all year long in all parks in Wisconsin.  This also gives financial support to the state properties, which, thanks to recent changes in how things operate, are hurting financially and scrambling to fill in gaps due to the withdrawal of traditional funding.  The WGA is a statewide organization that has historically worked closely with the state DNR.

Thank you for taking care of your little part of the peony patch, Jim.  I was wondering how that was going after your event last June.  Looking forward to the bloom updates in a few weeks.

“Bartzella” peonies (really!) blooming at last year’s event:

              HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BARTROD!

Yes, they are even talking some snow overnight, but there might not be enough (or any) on the ground to make any smileys, so the birthday boy will have to do with these cupcakes picked out especially for him.  Perhaps he can share some with the Wizard of OC… 😉

              and my personal favorite…

I find it rather ironic that cachers go all out one day a year to pick up bottles and cans and other items of trash that they find in parks and woods and lying in ditches and around signposts, and then for the other 364 days they go out to find little pieces of plastic that looks much like trash that other cachers have dumped in parks and woods and in ditches and around signposts… and leave it all there.  Some may even intentionally “throw down” a discarded piece of plastic and walk away with a “smile”…

Nice little blizzard we encountered while in Stevens Point early this morning.  Decided not to continue on with our caching plans after dropping my sister off there, opting to head home by going west and south, away from the direction of the craphas.  Roads were OK, but it was not a pleasant journey.

Thankfully, most of the local snow had melted by the time we got back home, but I suppose we could have shoveled the one spot on one step of our deck that still remained.  Our mini-terrorist is not bothered by the weather and is happily munching on the bits of carrots Mr. S placed just outside of the live trap.  The mother lode of orange lies just a bit farther in, but the terrorist isn’t falling for that.  Guess we could put the cage over a tulip to lure it inside…

Happy Birthday, Mister Greenthumb!  (Perhaps he can get this upcoming FTP to celebrate the occasion.)

Got my souvenir for pulling garlic mustard Saturday… but it’s not a piece of electronic art. Just got back from the clinic where they pulled a tick head from just below my armpit and sent me home with a dose of antibiotics. No good deed…

What happened to the rest of the tick?

That was the part that Mr. Sandlanders was able to remove.  It went down the drain.  Needed someone with fine motors skills and medical training to get the head out.  Luckily, I was OK with the NP and didn’t need a surgeon… 😯  😉

Just did a minor load of wash and threw in the cotton gloves I was using on Saturday.  Put the washed throw rugs and rags into the dryer, but kept out the gloves to pull out the stickers that were in them.  Got the first glove clean, then picked up the second one.  A VERY LIVELY CRAWLING TICK ON IT!  FRESH FROM THE DETERGENT WASH, RINSE, AND HIGH-SPIN END OF THE CYCLE!  ALIVE!  (Wonder how well that tick can swim in the swirly porcelain bowl he went for a ride in.  Heck, he’ll probably return to bite us in our butts!)

                          😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

Maybe the topic that I started is in the same place as our WGASPS electronic art… 😯

I was going to post it again here as a reply, but I don’t have it anymore… and it’s past my bedtime!  😉

Enjoy the CITO events tomorrow, CITO year-round (even without souvenirs and smilies), and make sure to peruse the garlic mustard article on the homepage.  (Thanks to zeeman_clan for that most excellent reading.)

BTW, I’m thinking my new topic post went into some kind of new, more voracious wormhole.  Or maybe there’s a problem with the space-time continuum.
