Multi-caches get extra points for having extra stages…

Not for a find, only for a re-visit of one you had already found, and only if ALL waypoints are checked and confirmed.  Other rules in place for all cache re-visits also need to be followed.

You mentioned how to tell the difference between “?” catagory. Read the cache page.

AMEN!!!  Lonely cache or not… READ THE CACHE PAGE!  It will make for a better caching experience for anyone.

TNW: “It doesn’t matter how you do it you just have to sign the log”. I would suggest you rethink this comment or you will not be endearing yourself to a great number of people.

I second that with another big AMEN!  The WGA does not need to be promoting what is considered by many to be poor caching etiquette.  😕 🙄

People will eventually find those caches, LCG or not.  We always throw in some puzzle caches to look for when we go north.  We don’t care if they are lonely or not.  Other cachers come to the area in search of quality caches, do their research, make some finds, and if those caches were on the LCG list, they are no longer in the next few cycles.  Just because caches are on the Lonely Cache list doesn’t mean that people have to play the game to find them.  Sometimes caches aren’t found in ages, but they have good COs who keep tabs on them.  While we haven’t recently checked on the two puzzles we currently have on the LCG list, we can almost guarantee that the containers are in place and ready to be found.  If no one finds them for LCG points, someone will come along at some time to put smilies to the work they have done at home on the solves.

The purpose of the Lonely Cache Game is not to provide a competition and prizes for those who play it enthusiastically to get lots of points.  It is to keep the quality of caching high in Wisconsin by encouraging cachers who are so inclined to go check on caches that haven’t been visited in quite a while.  It also gets cachers to visit and try new places and things throughout Wisconsin.

Don’t go there, TN.  Puzzles have their place in both caching and the LCG.  The game encourages people to go outside their own comfort zones by working to solve difficult puzzles as well as climbing to the top of remote hills after long and grueling hikes or wading through thick swamps.  The puzzles on the lonely list are not taking up real estate.  The finals to most puzzles are placed with as much thought and care as any other type of cache.  We all have our favorites in geocaching.

A banana container in a pine tree was the recent subject of a bomb squad or other LEO bit of scrutiny.

Go with honey.  You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar…

The WGA schedules its main events without considering any nearby lonely caches.  Even the LCG event is not always near lonely caches.  There are reasons some caches are lonely other than their locations.  If people are really interested in playing the Lonely Cache Game, they will travel all over the state to find lonelies, events or no events.

Now, if someone wanted to put on his/her own event near a cluster of lonely caches, that would be fine as long as looking for the caches was not the purpose of the event.  Cachers can always put together non-events to get together to go searching for lonelies, maybe even share expenses if travel takes them far from home.

Some people like to play games within the caching game, others don’t.  Events in areas far from where people normally cache may be attended by area cachers… who have already found those caches that are now lonely.  Distant LCG players who care to travel will go to those areas with or without events to lure them there.

Perhaps when the campout and picnic are publicized, and when the LCG list is current for each date, announcements can be made to the event cache pages that there are X number of lonely caches within X miles of the event, and to learn more about what the LCG is, go to…. (link)

No limit on how many people can look and claim DNF points for the LCG.   This one had the DNF only a couple of months ago.  As one in the series that appeared to be less of a hike, we had it in our sites last fall, but we ran short on time.

Great job!  (I didn’t understand a lot of that, since I am more chronically bored than techie, but I can see that a lot of diligent hard work is represented there.)

                            THANK YOU!

Our Hawaii slide show presentation was a success with the folks at the home.  A great day to escape to a balmier clime for about an hour.  The pics of the tropical flowers were the biggest hit.

The blue frosting on TBC’s birthday cake from yesterday’s event has the same effect as the frosting that was on THE cupcakes… 😕 😯 😉 😈
