One application. I only wear coats in the winter.

WaukeshaI see the waypoint on the cache page is for the northern ski trail on BB. I’ve recently hiked around that loop and as at Bong, is heavily infested with ticks! Not that I mind ticks all that much. It’s what I see in the mirror that bothers me. I can’t think of anything I’d be doing on a Saturday but geocaching so deal me in!

WaukeshaI think with the growth in hunter numbers, that it should not be a problem. I only hope that the hunts are of a good quality. That is, an enjoyable hike and a container of items of interest, mainly to keep newer hunters and kids interested.

WaukeshaI’m saying to break the state up into segments of counties that once caches are logged in each of those member counties, there be a winners cache for that district. People would be more likely to cover a district at a time so as to make an all state winners cache seem more attainable.

WaukeshaAs mentioned by others, the task is rather huge, except for Ken & Robin or Socko. It would seem fitting that a state organization sponsor such a cache program. I’m thinking that to make it a little less daunting, break the state up into districts or sectors. Each district would have it’s own winners cache with the big one for the first person to finish all districts and thus all counties. Perhaps to accumulate cache items, temporary caches could be placed in each district as an “add but don’t take” cache items or ante up, like the Three Card Poker cache. This would minimize the financial burden on the association. Or, out-right donations.
Just some thoughts.
I taped it and am in Waukesha so if Groustales, or anyone else for that matter would like to see it, I can bring it over for a viewing provided I’m given the coordinates and best time after 5PM to bring it over. But more importantly, does anyone have the means of making tape copies of it or an Mpeg on a CD? I’m thinking this would be a great PR handout to federal, state and local officials.

WaukeshaGreat segment that put us in a most favorable light. Neat looking cache too!

WaukeshaThe reporter just emailed me that the segment will be on the 10:00 news Tuesday night.

You might want to convert the coordinates so as to eliminate any conversion. I don’t know if most people are familiar with converting that in their GPS or if all are able to do that. We’ve had similar hunts in SE Wisconsin and it does tend to reduce those that go on them. But then I can think of several here that would jump at such a hunt, me included. Leave it and give it time.

WaukeshaI see that popular opinion won and the cache is approved. They had to get one last dig in and say that they hope there isn’t a bunch of copy cat caches springing up. Well let’s see, how many counties in Wisconsin…?

WaukeshaElsewhere, I read a thread about coming across “meth kitchens” or similar illegal activities while geocaching. Perhaps this can be presented as a benefit of us hiking through the woods. We can report such activities and once the word gets out that “we” are all over the place, such illicit activities might deminish.
I have not come across anything but I wonder if anyone else here ever has?
Steve Bukosky
WaukeshaI guess you are the Euell Gibbons of the group! I have the day off tomorrow, so after some grandfatherly business to tend to, I’ll be hitting the trails. Guess I won’t have to pack a lunch this time!

WaukeshaFound some in Illinois while working and checking out the Benchmark caches. It’s pretty distinct. If Yawningdog is around after a few days, I might try it with some dressing.

WaukeshaI wonder how effective that would be? Doesn’t do much for dandelions.

WaukeshaNo hurry.
