I have the 3.80 loaded in my 60C and happily, it fixed the lockup when I would find a geocache, use the find next feature and then do a recalculate and then it would lock up. I’d have to pull a battery. One other glitch I’ve noticed that I’d like other 60C and 60CS owners to check is the COURSE POINTER. It seems mine is way out of whack up close but ok at a distance. The distance to, stays correct however. I don’t normally use it but would if I were flying or boating and sometimes when I have to cross a large field.

WaukeshaI had three caches with a star trek theme which make no sense at all now, such as my “Beam me up Scotty”. Each had a Star Trek pocket book in them. I think books are a great idea.

WaukeshaOddly enough, I met some new cachers while opening a container at a multi cache in the southern Kettle Moraine. My comment to them was that I was here a few years ago on another cache. There are few areas that have not had one hidden.
With the price of gas, I look for new caches popping up in the area so I’m retiring my older ones as they get vandalized and such. This gives the new crowd places to use some creativity. So, get out of the city and come to Waukesha and Washington counties. Lots of places to hide.
Finally, I recall that originally there was not such a thing as a multi cache. There was the term offset cache which was only two waypoints. Maybe going back to that limit should be considered, or more approvers. One for certain regions.

I thought of making this an event but decided not too. Here’s the event. In Brookfield’s Mitchel park, there have been two caches, Dog Day Afternoon and El Sopa Grande. Both by the dog park. Today was April Stools day, the annual trash out of the dog park. Yours truly and Kanook took first place prize with a record 50+ pounds of…stools. Truly a unique CITO day for me!!

WaukeshaI tend to side with the “under the radar” approach. Without a clear understanding of what geocaching is about, anyone asked for permission would be nuts to give approval. The liability reason is very valid. Anywhere not paved or in a picnic area, in other words “off trail” one risks injury from holes, roots and debris. Lawsuit time. What with this precedent set for waysides, I’d go under the radar but with this twist. Make them member only. This way there is a better arguement that participants know and understand geocaching guidelines. Further, minimize the cacher’s exposure time to muggles by providing a good clue where the cache is. And finally, put on the cache page that if a state vehicle or car with state plates is in parked there, pass it up. Better to keep the profile low. However, given the precedent, virtual’s should be easily approved now. Then again, can any type of cache be approved in a wayside now? Nuts!

WaukeshaI’ve been in Atlanta a few time, the home of Coke. I’m sure Pepsi must be sold somewhere there but the places I went to acted insulted when I asked for a diet Pepsi. Too bad the Wisconsin beer drinkers are not that protective of their home state drinks.
I once almost die of thirst in Tennessee when asking where the nearest bubbler was.
Same state, I was at a hotel lounge and asked for a Pabst (1979 it was) and the bartender gave me a blank stare. After a few moments he said “oh! You mean a blue ribbon”!
Hey Flushingrouse, The Ryan Property on KF would be good for that. You know the place. There is Chief O’Brien, Badger VOR and Toy Store back in there.
I don’t seem to have any reason not to help so put me down and tell me more. I’ve got a total of three GPS units that I can bring.

WaukeshaWhat Whizbit said. When there are motorcycles racing on the ice, it is a good time to do this one. Yes, motorcycles on the ice. They have studded tires.

WaukeshaSome of my caches require waypoint projecting and some required compass use. Cheesehead had one the required some sofiticated triangulation. As long as a GPS is necessary, requiring a compass or specifying other datums should be fine. I’d look forward to it.

WaukeshaI see no reason not to use it. I’m more interested in the hunt to find it than what the container is. As long as there is a log sheet in it and it stays reasonably dry, go for it.

WaukeshaHave IPass, Will Travel. I’m all for user fees and it is Wisconsin’s shame that we don’t have tolls here too.
One observation on fairness, in Pennsylvania on the turnpike, a motorcycle with a tiny trailer pays more than a car! In San Francisco a motorcycle can cross the Golden Gate Bridge and not pay the $3 toll. Truely enlightened people.
Sounds like a reasonable plan and that anything done would be temporary. Worse case senario is that we all start letterboxing.
