I don’t know what happened. I did email him back that I was posting his request but never heard further.

Also, there can be confusion with real names and team name. Some maiden names are used one time and not the other and team names are changed and one name is used to register and another used to pay. If there are any questions about payments, please email me direct at [email protected]

Also… there has been confusion because names used for payment on PayPal sometimes do not match with the name registering for the sites or buying T-shirts. Some have changed team names too.

If you send a check, please include team name. If you use PayPal, please include a message with your team name or the name used to register on this site.

Assuming that they would be treated well, I have an eMap and GPS V that you could use one night.

GB Paddlers, I messed up your message by mistake. I could not retrieve the orginal message. The wrong icon was clicked by me and I thought I was quoting a section of your message. Oops!

There is some comfort in numbers. I frequent a trade technical site and the traffic load requires similar hardware and time efforts. That site is asking supporters to ante up $10 a month to cover expenses! So, by all means, become a premium member. It is a value for the price.

However, I still feel that there must be a better way. Where is the bulk of the traffic created? Probably on the west and east coasts of the country and who knows how much foreign traffic is created. It seems to me that regional sites would be a better way to do things, but then again, I’m not an internet expert. Something must be done to improve it. Part of the fun of geocaching is coming home and getting the logs posted and check of the BBS. Waiting a day or two takes some fun out of it.

Don’t dismiss the Brahma boots at Wal-Mart. After trying some high priced boots, I bought these and they are oh so comfortable and waterproof. They are made in the Pacific rim so that may be a negative but for $30 they are very good in my opinion.

Ticks already? Kanook was just to the vet and has his supply of tick repellant and such. It worked good last year. I picked up a load of the darned things whenever I was at Bong so checked around for the best tick and mosquito repellant. My conclusion is if it doesn’t have at least 25% DEET, you better stick to quick caches. I buy the Osco version of Deep Woods Off and it works great. Just be sure to spray the pants, shirt and hat too.

Maybe check with Offroute.com. They might be a few bucks more than some but they do give a kickback to the Irishman. As to my connector issue, in reading posts on GC.com, other people have the problem too. It starts out as in intermitant problem but finally the connector comes loose and then it’s back to the serial port, which is a great feature in itself. Having a fall-back that is.

Cough! Cough! I can’t see him for all the dust he left behind racing ahead in the stats!!

I bought a WI-FI card for my laptop two weeks ago when I found out the Baymont that I was staying at had it. I don’t know if all have wireless but I’m thinking that if they have, being an Ovations member, they might give a person the code if you pull into the lot and ask them for it. But for just getting cache page info, I’d think wireless dial-up would suffice and be a lot easier than running around for hot spots.

Life is good. Garmin sent me new codes and my 60C is again useful.

I’ll be the second! Jeff and I were neck and neck for a while and trading off leads. He blew by me later on and my head is still spinning. Congratulation!

I like as much accuracy as possible but the fact is that you can expect an error radius of around 60 feet. I’ve done many test where I’ve done waypoint averaging with WAAS showing an accuracy of 8 feet only to come back and find that the spot has moved more than that.

One thing that I have noticed at time, is if you are on a multicache, often the error is the same direction. So, if you find waypoint #1 30 feet to the north. #2 and so on often have the same error.

When you get about 100 feet from ground zero, stop and let the readings stabilize. You may find that the bearing and distance change. This is a good time to take a compass bearing if your GPSR is so equiped.

When money is available, I’d like to obtain a survey quality GPS. I was watching a fellow from the Waukesha water department walk around with one and take coordinates on where all the lateral valves were by the side walks. It fit in a backpack and had a nice tall antenna to keep it above his head.

As it is now, geocaching is like horse shoes, close counts. I’d like to get things even closer!
