Whose to say what is the best now a days? I just had to return my brand new Garmin 60c because the USB connector went bad. I think GPS’s are like cars. They all get you where you want to go. It just what you want to be be seen in, or with, in this matter.
I’m curious as to the status of the series. Is it possible for a person who is just starting the series to finish it and get the coordinates for D.C.? What about reporting the codewords?
Rediscovering nature tops my treasures discovered. Often I’ll revisit an area that a cache took me to, only to walk around and see the sights.
Well, I found the weak spot of the unit. The tiny USB connection on the unit has broken free and that no longer works. I’m waiting for a return authorization for it to be be fixed or exchanged. In the mean time, I’m glad I didn’t sell my V!

I downloaded the newest version and opened a GPX file with it. What does it do? If it could covert the file so it can be opened in USAPhotoMaps, it’d be great. I don’t see how it can though. Can it?
Now that I have the Garmin 60 with the lightning fast USB, I’d like a quicker way to open files in the serial only program.
I have one myself and if the one left is the one with no accessories, I may be interested. Let me know at [email protected]

WaukeshaPrinting isn’t cheap if you want color added. Small quantities will be killers. I was hoping we might have a member in the graphics business that might help us out with this. Otherwise, I’d suggest printing the brochure out with a laser toner printer at 600dpi and take that to a Kinkos or similar and use a digital copier which will also make a double sided print.
As a suggestion, you can go to Office Max, Depot or Staples and get plastic lamination sheets. They also have the digital copiers there too and might have lasar printers available if you bring the file on a 3.5″ floppy or CD. I’m not sure on that. Call before.
I have the GSPMAP60c and the V. Seeing as you unfortunate to lose the V, if you still have the City Select software, I’d get the 60c.
On the other hand, If you use the GPS mainly for geocaching and navigating locally, I’d also consider buying a used V from one of the several people on geocaching.com selling theirs. The GPSMAP60c doesn’t find the caches any better than the V does.

Milwaukee in Brown Deer Park. It must be the one The Beast mentioned.
The difficulty rating system has not been modified since inception and is long overdue for a change. For example, when I placed Lowes Lake #1, you needed a 4X4 to get to the parking lot and hike though several inches of snow, so I rated it a 4.5 for terrain as a five indicates special equipment needed. Well, a 4X4 and snowshoes is special equipment. However, after the thaw, the difficulty goes way down and I will change it.
The flaw is, how many people are willing to adjust their caches seasonally or should it be necessary? Do we post difficulty based on how it would be in July and just assume that all will be tough in January?
I think we all know that hiking in the winter will be tough without skis or snow shoes but perhaps the cache pages need to metion how snow cover will affect the cache, such as Winter Friendly or Not Winter Friendly. While on that topic, A sore spot of mine is not knowing if Kanook is welcomed when I head to a cache.
Many of these suggestions have been posted on geocaching.com discussion but seldom is a response made, which infuriates me.
Add me as one interested in the topic! Getting around Sussex park made me think about snow shoes. My size 12’s are close but not close enough! Is there some size guide for buying the right ones like so many square inches for so many pounds that one weighs?
The solution was to uninstall the EZ Firewall from Road Runner and install the old one that I used. Life is good again!

WaukeshaI’m gratified by the nice comments on the cache. I was using it as a general example for a possible philosophy about the discussion of how long to keep a cache in place. One alternative I’ve thought of is to relocate and rename the cache. For example, A little bit of Paradise II. The cache would be relocated, submitted for approval and previous finders would have a reason to revisit the area, add to the stats and so forth. It’d also give that log a chance to decompose in piece.
I shut down my new firewall and now I can get in. Can anyone explain that to me?
