    Great question

****How will you respond when someone has an opinion that is the polar opposite of yours?****

They way I would respond would be is first listen to them and actually listen don’t listen with one ear. I would then give them if we are in appropriate area my views and listen to why they don’t agree who knows they might change my mind and offer something I didn’t know or think about. This has happened before where I thought one thing and then listen to the other side and then made an informative opinion. The biggest thing is to listen to them all members of the WGA and make a decision.

****Your opinion might go against the official opinion or decision of the BOD. How would you react in that situation?****

I would have to go with the majority. If that is the way the BOD goes that is the way they went and I would go with it. And if I was approached and asked why it went that way I would give an informative reason why the board went the way they did. I don’t think it would be right to back talk the other board members because they went against me.

in reply to: caching in Wisconsin #1942019

*** What part(s) of Wisconsin (general or specific) have you cached in that you would like to return to for more caching or just to visit?

I have cached in and around Milwaukee and surrounding areas. But I have cached in places near Merric State Park and Mirrior Lake State Park.
I think both areas were wonderful I would love to caching in both areas again and soon lol.

*** What part(s) of Wisconsin (general or specific) have you not yet cached in but would like to someday?

One area we have not cached in yet is norther wisconsin. My wife and I are both planning on doing some day trips if not overnighters this coming summer to that area to do some caching. Also we would like to go to the south western part of the state to do some caching those are both areas we have not yet cached.

in reply to: WGA Events & Temporary Caches #1941599

    Another good question.

My personal practice is I do not log temp caches, but don’t get me wrong they are still fun to find. I believe if it does not have a GC number than it should not be logged. But I would like to see some temp caches come back to events but with cleaver hides. Maybe have people who are known to have very hard finds hide a cache or two and let people at the event find then not log them but have a chance to go find them. I know my first WGA event was a pick nick and my wife and I had a blast looking for the temps. To me an event is to socialize and maybe find a cache or too. I have also encountered some fellow cachers who said they did not like WGA events because of the temps and the craziness that follows where people come extra early and basically run out and try and be the FTF and that’s all they are there for. And ruin it for the rest of the people who show up. That is why they do not come to events any longer. When I tell them the WGA does not have temp caches they said now they might come to an event again and see how it is.

in reply to: Maintaining and Obtaining New Membership #1941590

    Thanks dean for the question.

I think there is a lot we can do to get new members. We need to get out there and pound the pavement per say like holding events where events have not been held before. I held a Geo 101event last year at KMSU where we had 64 people come from the campground and surrounding areas, and I have been asked to come back this year and put on 3 more events this coming summer. One of the nice things we had there was a banner that showed the WGA logo and we hung it up so people can see it. we even had people who were not planning on coming walk by see what we were doing and then join in. we got a lot of people interested in geocaching and in the WGA. I had a lot of people come up and ask for the web site so they could sign on and look around. Hopefully this year we can have some WGA pamphlets so we can hand those out too. As to how to keep members interested that is a hard thing to do because people loose interest in the game or get a bad taste when things happen so they drop out and they do not want to come back because of X,Y,or Z. That is something the membership committee has been trying to handle but again hard thing to come up with an answer because of all the variables. But we have tried and we will keep doing it as soon as the membership committee gets started again.

in reply to: Regional CITO Events #1941608

    Cheeto thanks for the question.

Yes my wife and I attended our first CITO this past year. We love the concept of giving back to the parks where we hide our treasures. We plan on attending more this coming summer now that my schedule has changed and will allow me to attend more events. We also practice CITO when we go caching by ourselves we carry plastic bags with us and will pick up garbage as we walk along trails. I believe the cleaner we can leave areas the better cachers look and why not give back to the community and the environment.

in reply to: Road Navigation GPS mounting… #1939849

I am with RJ on this on I stopped using suction cup mounts after my fuzz buster kept flying at me while I was driving down the road. I now use Velcro or double sided sticky tape (servo tape for the RC people) works the best.

Sitting here in Milwaukee and not a drop or a flake here. I don’t know when it is going to hit. But I put in a beef roast in the slow cooker for dinner so I can hunker down so I don’t have to go anywhere. Everyone keep posting would like to hear whats going on around the state.
