😀 A GPSr is no different than any other techno device – it is dependent on the savvy of the user. Too often people turn off the ” common sense” portion of their brain and believe everything a techno device tells them.
I for instance have a nice Garmin GPSr loaded with city navigator v8, but I know for a fact it has several mapping errors. This is why I also drive
with a load of paper maps and 2 or 3 compasses. Remember the old maxim still holds true for GPSr “garbage in (ie mapping software) is garbage out.”😀 While I am very reluctant to offer up an idea, here goes. You might wish to consider a project helping the wheelchair bound discover and learn about our activity. I believe that the DNR has a program setup for taking wheelchair bound folks hunting and fishing using special equipment and hunt times. I have also been wheelchair bowling for 3 years with the badger wheelchair bowling Association. There is also the VA to consider as a contact point. I believe they just held a big national convention/sporting event here in Milwaukee.
Anyway, there is my 2 cents worth.
😆 I too must agree with CB. Signing the log has always been a requirement. I have gone back to a cache because it was a micro and I hadn’t brought along a pen, in order to sign the log. I went back to a cache that had indeed been muggled after I found it and signed the log. A fellow cacher thought I had lied online log so I went back re found the cache and resigned the log.
Also, I think the rules(guidelines, etc.) are: 1. IF you take an item from the cache, 2. LEAVE an item of equal value. If the cache is a micro without items, than obviously common sense needs to rule. But every micro I have found, and I have found hundreds of them, has had a paper log to sign. I shouldn’t have to state this in adult education but…. SIGN THE LOG!
And I actually spent 4 hours in Antioch back about 10-12 years ago when the delivery truck I was driving blew a tire. What a small world after all! 😆
Worked fine for me. I use the latest, most up to date version of internet explorer. 😆
😆 Outdoorsman, I also have a garmin 60cs and I use GSAK, so I can perhaps help you. If you wish, send me a PM via my profile or direct to [email protected] and we can set something up. Good luck!
😆 Actually, I would appreciate a class on GSAK. Though I don’t go paperless, I would like to know if there is more I can do with GSAK than I do now.
🙁 Hmmm…..snakes! Why does it have to be snakes?? The last snake that I heard about that was lost in a car ended up in the glove box. Good luck!
😀 You can add my name to the list also. While we found all the caches we looked for last weekend, I did post a DNF for GCQZQA on 4/6/07 and GCR8FM on 3/24. The latter cache was confirmed muggled out and has been replaced by the owner. 🙄
🙂 I agree!
😆 Oh, I can definitely top this story. About a 16-17 months ago, the Bond Girl and I attempted to do a night cache belonging to Russell. After dropping off the Bond girl and the geodog alongside the road close to the 1st reflector, I drove down the road to turn around and come back to park on the other side. Big mistake!! I pull over and end up sliding into a very deep ditch almost putting my Explorer on its right side. I put it into low range 4wd but only ended up shredding the right front tire on some exposed re-bar.
To make a long story short, I eventually got towed out, and bought a new tire the next day. total cost about $400!! 😳
😛 Well, 2 miles of trail should theoretically be able to hold 20 caches- each one being .10 miles apart. However, that is in theory only. But no, 6 does not sound like Too many – in theory.
😛 Don’t forget the Bugline Trail that runs from Menomonee Falls to the Village of Lisbon, about 12-13 miles in all. It has several caches all along the trail that are a lot of fun to find.
😆 Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!
Sean Connery and the Bond Girl would be interested in joining you but we will needs the details on when & where. We have found GCGJ7H, GCZWTY, and GC10160.
