In todays society communication is everywhere. Social media I am not a huge fan of but it is a way to hear what the community thinks so as BOD members its another tool to hear.
I have been a geocacher and a WGA member for some time. I have been a “deputy grand knight” for a local council Knights of Columbus serving more than 5 years as an officer within that organization. I am a cub scout den leader for 5 years with a growing den, versus the various decreasing size of cub scout dens in this high speed age. Computer literate, and good communication skills, but most of all patience thanks to having two great children.
I believe the BOD should either fill in where the membership cannot. The BOD is the voice of the membership, whether its taking polls to see what the membership thinks instead of deciding for them.
Favorite cache is Out of Site (https://coord.info/GC232EV. This is an example of how it takes a group of people to complete a good cache. Another could be Vampire Empire. Its a classic style cache, gadgets at each stage sort of speak… and its going to be a hike and a half. Why…. sign the log its worth it that’s why.
I would say my spirit animal is the owl. His wisdom and I have been a follower of the WGA for some time. I still keep in contact with people who have left and people who are still very connected. Listening to everything and helping make decisions from a distance.
As the game changes, there has to be level caches for all different folks. Unfortunately I would rather search out the classic caches but will still find a p/g to pick up a county or just to satisfy the need to find a cache. I did have a guard rail cache at one point, its archived. Setting an example of where to hide caches help but hiding on the side of the road on the street sign that says maximum speed limit 55 that just doesn’t sound safe. Lead by example lets follow the rules that reviewers help make.
This last year i did not host our annual area cito because of personal issues. I plan to host again this year if there are no conflicts. It started small but has grown each year … unfortunate unexpected circumstances are why i did not host this year. I also have attended quite a few as well.
There is a position for everybody, from the banker to the garbage man or woman. Thge speaker to the scriben there is no need to turn anyone away.
I have been in various positions with in different organizations and with all positions i give everything i can. As a professional and a leader putting forth a positive example helps insire others to help and succeed.
01/22/2018 at 7:44 pm in reply to: Candidate Question – What Computer Skills Will You Bring to the BOD? #2057552I am adaptable and always willing to learn. I can write different types if programs currently and have learned some html only to be a nuissance. I have been somewhere in the computer industry since high school.
Celebrations are in the end when we are all tired, drained and exhausted. Pop the top with a porter? The are so many different ways to motivate people and leading by rxample is the first step.
I have done plenty of event coordination with various groups and various people some successful and others not. But helping attempt to bring people together for a mutual interest without conflict is always a plus but not always possible. I do try to put myself in different shoes to see all view points so going along with something that isnt my way isnt a problem.
I am more a finder as i like traveling as much as i can to see new places. I also enjoy tge friendly competitive games like the Hu nger games caches as well as ftf runs. I have hidden a few but i feel i would rather search.
Yawn
Absolutely. I wish all candidates the best of luck. Win or lose its an honor to run.
