Received mine today. When I went and grabbed it off of the Jeep web site is says the name of my Jeep is Devils Paw (Alaska) and that it’s origin is Michigan. I don’t know why since I’m in Milwaukee. Anyways, I sent in my request around the 25Th of July so I don’t know how they are sending them out.

They all originate in Detroit; that’s what user “Jeep 4x4_2006”, who owns them all, has listed for a location. That confused me at first too. 😕 😆

I have a cache I want to place in the Brule River State Forest, so I’m working on filling out this form. Do I have to wait to be contacted to place the cache? Or is it more like I submit the listing to the DNR, hide the cache, and they’ll contact me only if something’s wrong with my idea? How long should it take to hear back? 😕

I personally like the nanos. I found a couple of TyeDySky’s today. But I have to agree with Bunnyfufu. If it’s in the woods, why bother with a nano. Although having said that, one of my very favorite caches is a micro hidden in the woods by the Cheeseheads.

Yeah, these would be urban caches (well as urban as Stevens Point can get). There are some neat little parks where a regular sized cache wouldn’t work. An ol’ trusty match container would probably work, but I like the idea of nanos just to throw in something different. 🙂

Let me guess… it’s a $100 bill issued by the government of __________ (fill in the name of a country with a 1000% annual inflation rate).

Maybe the Hayward Cheezehead can set the record straight….That he didn’t take one could either be very nice and curteous or perhaps just saving himself the hassle of carrying around foreign money.

I also echo the concern about the hole placement.

Does anyone know why the design was changed? Just to add “Do not keep me!”? (which is a good addition, imho!) 😆

But! What the heck are people doing digging up and trampling flowers and damaging trees? Shame on them! It seems more like the cachers are giving themselves the bad name if they can’t act responsibly. 🙁

It looks like I spoke too soon. 😳 After looking back at the article, since they don’t give reasons for blaming cachers, who should know better, then I should hold judgment. They’re lacking an awful lot of info for me to be sure it was cachers who were being irresponsible.

Hm. I don’t think he’ll be gaining much popularity by saying the cachers need to get a life.

I’m not sure what can be done to fix this image. Maybe point out that the areas surrounding other nearby caches have been traeted respectfully?

Looks good to me! I’m glad to see the cooperation between the DNR and WGA. 🙂

If your flashlights have batteries in them, that may be a problem. I’ve never seen anything bad happen with batteries, but if they’re sitting in a sealed metal box in this hot hot hot weather, things could get icky.

    Otherwise, good items! 8)

I bought five of the last batch of WI coins, and I’m hesitant to put them out for these reasons. I think I’ll try releasing one on my one-hundredth find and see how it does out in the geoworld.

in reply to: Reading your cache logs #1763397

I read all my logs, and I love doing so.

When I first started caching, I lived in Milwaukee, and then I went back home to Park Falls in northern Price county for the summer. There were no caches nearby. None. And there were so many neat parks that cachers were missing out on. My boyfriend and I quickly put out ten caches at some of our favorite places, like the Round Lake Logging Dam, Smith Rapids covered bridge, Stockfarm Bridge campground, and some local parks.

I love reading that cachers have enjoyed my hides, especially when they say that they wouldn’t have otherwise visited these areas. That’s the essence of caching for me.

Since we placed the caches after having been caching for only a few months, the early logs were also quite valuable in giving us tips about placements, clues and ratings.
