Ditto. My maternal grandfather was very proud of the fact that he had visited/toured every one of the 48 continental states. He was scared to death of flying so there wasn’t much chance he’d ever get to AK or HI. I try to make time to find at least a few caches in each city I visit. Maybe someday that’ll lead to having finds in all states. Maybe not. Doesn’t much matter but the journey sure is fun!

OK, what I meant to write was “Please add NC to my list”. Thanks, S.Karolek

Thanks for posting the pictures! You had an outstanding weather day for this event. Our pack held our annual “winter fest” today and I was at the outdoor cooking station all day facilitating “pudgy pies”, “cookies baked in a cardboard box”, “egg in a hole” and “french toast” cooked on a “hobo stove” and dutch oven cooking. Hope you had as much fun as we had!!!!

Not necessarily in that order I hope. Also hope Trudy gets more than one kiss / year!

I’m still curious about how they can ban virtual caches.
The wording of their policy implies that four or five of the parks which don’t allow virtuals are under construction. I can see them not wanting anything that encourages visitors to something that isn’t yet ready to host…

Be aware that the rates on the Illinois tollways are increasing beginning Jan. 1st.
Thanks for the warning and the info on where to get an iPass device. For those who head south from Beloit, if you haven’t been in a while, they finally eliminated the 15 cent toll between I90 and that little section of road that takes you to I39.
Getting off I90 at hy 20 and heading south on 251 (old US 51) is a nice alternative to tolls. Hy 30 is an OK alternative to I88 but again, adds miles and I’m not sure it gets you past any tolls. Been too long since I’ve taken back roads.

Geocaching Swiss Army Knife is free and Clyde only asks that you consider sending him $15 to register it. It’s a very versatile tool.
As a volunteer registered user of GSAK, I received notice last week that GSAK is going semi-commercial. The free version will have a nag feature. Beginning with version 4.2 (released a few days ago) the registration is $20 and gets rid of the nag feature permanently. Anyone who had registered voluntarily before the change gets a free upgrade to version 4.2. Future major upgrades may or may not come with a price tag. It sounds like Clyde has made this his full-time endeavor based upon an email exchange I had with him.
Note, for those wondering, GSAK is still a value at $20!

Unfortunately, the Fleet Farm chain and the Farm & Fleet chain are not associated with one another.
Sure they are… they just don’t admit it! I believe the two chains are owned by brothers who had a falling out a number of years ago.

Wisconsin isn’t a small state. What makes you think you’ll only sell 100? Heck I’d buy 10-15 myself.
Ditto. I especially like a concept I was introduced to in Washington state… leave a cool geocoin in the really tough caches as an extra incentive for folks to hunt them who might have otherwise skipped them.

BitHead. Geek. Whatever you want to call it. I was about the 5th person at UWM CS to have an email address when email was invented. Before that I hung out on Compu$erve or “MAUDE” (Milwaukee Area Utility for Digital Exchange) then Exec PC.
My pants have a hard time staying up due to the stuff I hang on my belt. I bought a power inverter so I can take my laptop with Mapsource and GSAK along on the road. I have a PDA but with the laptop rarely use it for geocaching.
36 emails per day? I get 50-60 at my personal addresses most days and 2-300 a day at work most days. I’ve forgotten how to write. I can type and carry on a conversation at the same time and, while looking at the person I’m talking to, backspace and correct mistakes I realized I made. That really miffs my wife off…she figures I can’t possibly be paying attention to the conversation.
2 digital cameras, digital video, too many electronic toys and tools to count.

Sounds fun. However, I’ll be camping with my scouts. Hmmm, I wonder if Lost Boyscout and Uncle Fun will be at the jamboree too?

I guess I’m confused by this statement. Hopefully you meant it as a joke. I’d like to think that the vast majority of our community, if not all, are law abiding citizens and have absolutely nothing to hide or “steps to watch”…of course that may be the naieve side of me being unrealistic.
