    Jeff,

Thanks for sharing your time and talents. Cool map! Funny how when we’re busy we wish for quiet time and when things slow down we miss those things which kept us busy.

Not sure if you have any kids…but Happy Fathers’ Day in honor of the nurturing and teaching you share with us.

It is “Yellow Express”. It is a bug tag, a yellow nylon tie wrap and a geocaching.com key fob with an embedded compass. If you can move it along, that would be great. If not, no great loss I’m sure.

    Folk Trakers,

I understand the schedule limits. I got home late last night. Have to catch up on some things around the house today. Will be in the Hales Corners area tomorrow (but dressed up for two parties so I’m not sure geocaching will fit in)

I think I’ll drop this guy in the Landsberg Center Travel Bug Hotel (GCJJ4K) and hope for the best. Since I haven’t been there yet that’ll log another find for me while I’m at it…

Thanks anyway, unless you happen to be near the hotel this evening or tomorrow and pick it up.

Hey, cool. I just picked up a bug in the Seattle area that is in a race to Portland…but it must log at least 3000 miles before going to Portland. If I bring it to WI and log it in somewhere, perhaps you could move it back west for lots of miles. When are you leaving????

Clarification. I clicked on the “Subscribe to our mailing list” link on the WSGA site and it sends you to a Yahoo Groups signup page. Looks like they do have discussion boards… I like ours much better than the Yahoo groups I belong to.

Don’t get me wrong… I think it is a great name for a geocache with a challenge. I was semi-serious that we should find out how many there are and maybe consider advertising them as a series…

Dear “Really, I’m not lost”. I just about fell out of my chair when I read your post. I’m currently visiting Bellevue, WA and looking at (and doing) some of the local caches. These two caught my eye…

You Can’t Get There From Here

You Can’t Get There From Here Either

I wonder just how many “You can’t get there from here” caches there are? Brew, how ’bout a new series 😉

I would like us to proceed extremely cautiously regarding mandatory turnover. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I’m currently visiting Washington state. I am fascinated by some of the terrain 4+ caches I’m reading about. In fact, I spent hours Sunday trying to get to a terrain 2 cache. I’ve spoken with some locals and I’m going to try from a different side of the mountain on Thursday afternoon. Some of these caches only get 1-2 visits per year! If there were some mandatory turnover rule, only a few individuals would seek them. I’ve got to let you know I’m only going to the top of the hill for GCD because GCD is there! If the cache weren’t there, I wouldn’t be killing myself to get to the top…I’ve seen the views from 150-200 feet below the top and I don’t think they’re going to be very different from the top…it’s that darn cache that’s pulling me.

Since as near as anyone here can figure out GCD is the 2nd oldest cache still active in Washintgon, any mandatory turnover rule would have taken this one offline long ago. I guarantee you there is no “beaten path” to the cache. It looks like only 9 people have been there before me. It sounds like the cache is still in good shape – I’ll certainly let the owner know and probably repair it if it isn’t – and I wouldn’t want caches like this to go away with only 9 people having been there!

    Dear Beast et.al.,

As has become obvious from reading the subsequent posts, I didn’t know the whole story. That’s OK. I didn’t intend to second guess…just wanted to point out that some of us don’t know the whole store so sometimes things going on seem “odd” or “harsh” to us.

Perhaps the original posts could have included more information about contact attempts to make it clear this is really ready to be archived. Perhaps I should have just kept my nose out of it entirely.

Yowsa! You spoke with a relative a day previous, who was “going to” leave a message for the person to get back to you and you haven’t heard anything one day later so that means no interest? What if the relative took a day or two to contact the owner? What if the owner takes another day or two to get back to you?

Am seeing many cache logs of jeeps being deposited out here in Washington state. In most cases, someone logs picking them up before they get logged in!

I haven’t found any yet…but I’m not looking that hard either.

Spent all day caching yesterday… well, a lot of time driving from cache to cache and a lot of time trying to find them… without a single tick or mosquito. I may have to move out here to the Seattle area permanently!

    Brian,

I’ve got an old Uniden SportCat SC150B. It works fine for most bands, including 800MHz (no tracking) but not low band for some reason. I replaced it with a BC235 then gave that to my dad when I got a BC245. The SC150B is sitting here collecting dust. I’ve got a charger, battery pack and its antenna. I’ve no idea where the instruction manual is but I might have the original box somewhere in the basement…I’ll look.

If this meets your needs, the price is real cheap.

    Let me know.
