Well, you could load them into a laptop 😉

Bec,
I know someone who has 3 greyhounds and has to orphan them due to a move. Two are taken care of but there’s still one that might wind up at the humane society. “Pro” is a 7yr old beautiful female. We had her over for a few hours but decided she is too big (82lbs of rock solid muscle) for us to adopt. If you have any room in your life for another, please contact me ASAP as I think Pro’s life is drawing short…

Hi,What is a FRS radio? I’m sure that’s a dumb question
Bec,
There is no such thing as a dumb question. FRS stands for “Family Radio Service”. These are very similar to, but weaker in power than, two-way radios capable of transmitting and receiving on the “General Mobile Radio Service” frequencies. The upper distance limit for FRS is usually 1-2 miles. The upper distance limit for GMRS is usually 3-5 miles due to the higher transmit power. GMRS radios can transmit and receive on FRS frequencies (overlap between the two bands) but the opposite is not true. Most GMRS radios let you choose high or low power when transmitting on the FRS frequencies (some allow you to choose power on all frequencies to save battery power). The higher powered GMRS radios require a license from the FCC to operate. Unfortunately most stores that sell them don’t tell you that…
Here’s a link to the frequencies and more information about the bands in case you’re interested in listening for them with your scanner…

Thanks to all who make WGA possible. Very enjoyable enhancement to our sport/hobby!

Brew,
Cool new feature. Thanks for your efforts. By the way, have you considered editing the posts that started this thread to use the new address?

Dear Trudy & the Beast,
(and anyone else heading to Disneyworld) check out the site tourguidemike.com for some really great tips and tricks on making the most of your Disney experience. There are some interesting caches within the property and many nearby. We were there last December and spent a few hours with the GPS among the other things… balance you know…

Forgot to mention, that long lost friend is Lost Boyscout! I see he and family/friends were caching very near my house last weekend. Too bad I wasn’t around to join. Hope they didn’t stop by, cause nobody was here.
That’s the link I was thinking of! As another long lost friend commented “less than six degrees of geocaching”.
Have a great week!

I’ve entered all these teams in by hand (and then the script daily gets the stats automatically). Beast has given me a large list to work from, but it takes time getting all those names in there (I have to make sure the team name is the same as on geocaching.com). It may be quicker for me to write a small admin program and recruit some help.

House Of Brew
Dear House of Brew,
Name rings a distinct bell. Have we had lunch together? Cool tricks with stats gathering. Help cure my ignorance about the team name stuff between geocaching.com and wi-geocaching.com … I started out with the same username. Now I think I have things set up so I have the same team name on both. Not sure though. Can you shed any clafifying insights?
Thanks,
Steve KI’m definitely comfortable presenting the concept of the activity and, working for We Energies, quite used to engaging in conversations that may take surprising twists in directions that I hoped wouldn’t turn up…
Charlie Shong is the engineer who runs LPSD. The SD is responsible for all issues related to water quality of Pewaukee lake. Sewers, runoff, zebra mussles, preserving wetlands in the watershed, creating canoe launch points on the rivers just downstream from the lake, etc.
My reason for not bringing it up last night wasn’t a fear of Charlie’s reaction, rather a hesitancy to bring it up in front of a crowd of folks when I really wanted to broach it one on one with Charlie.
Sounds like nobody here knows for sure whether the LPSD has been engaged so I will make an appointment to bring it up.
I can see it now: “cache in, purple loosestrife out” http://www.wnrmag.com/supps/2001/jun01/hatch.htm
Thanks everyone for the encouragement,

I agree with The Beast — if you feel comfortable presenting geocaching, go for it. For those of us who may not know, can you tell me who Charlie is?
Jeff,
Thanks for posting this summary. Very timely. Good level…let us know what was discussed without getting into gory detail. Appreciated. I agree that increased visibility into “boardthink” is a good thing.

I honestly wouldn’t mind if you waited for the temperature to go up 60-70 degrees 😉

Steve, Do you know about the state’s “2nd vehicle discount”? When you buy your first state sticker, you can buy a 2nd for half price for your 2nd vehicle. I have no idea what they’d do if you asked for a sticker and 3 “2nd vehicle” stickers.
Last year I put the first sticker on my wife’s van and didn’t buy a sticker for my pickup. At some point in the year I found myself going into a state park and I told them the sticker was on my wife’s van and asked them if they still sold the 2nd vehicle stickers. They had no problem selling me one on the spot without proof that I had purchased the first one! From now on though, I plan to just buy 2 up front.
Hmmm, come to think of it, I’ve bought a sticker for my GoldWing in the past too… If I don’t see a response from you about more than 2 stickers before I find myself in a state park for the first time this year, I’ll ask and post results here…

What really is fun is when your youngest is a scout that “camps” at a Waukesha county park. While you are at the camp site, you can bet they will be dropping by to double check that everyone has their sticker. I bought one last year as a resident and used it 3x.
I’ve camped with our Cub Scout Pack at several Waukesha county parks, most recently last August. While I had a sticker on my pickup, my wife who joined later in the day did not have a sticker on her van. I asked at the gate and they said to just have her let them know she was camping with us and they’d let her in without paying for the sticker. Campers do not require a sticker. The parking cost is included in the campsite cost.

Another tactic is to consider going to the web (http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/index.html) to learn about programming the web. Good luck.
