I have received an email back from lazy139 (Dave’s son) and he is in agreement with us adopting the caches and then spreading them out to other interested cachers. He was going to forward my email on to Geocaching.com.
I think we are all in agreement but we just need someone with the power to make it happen to make it happen.
We can be reached either through the WGA web site or through GC.com or directly at [email protected]
JohnI sent an email to bugsmasher69 account and also to his son’s account (Lazy139) of what we were wanting to accomplish.

To keep it simple why don’t you just move all of the active caches to my account and then I will redistribute them. I already have a list from sandlanders and kungfuhippie of caches that they are interested in adopting.
JohnDave
Sloughfoot will take on the project, Bugsmasher69 was a good friend of ours. There are a few over 40mi from our location and we would either adopt those to other cachers or archive them. Most of the caches seem to be in good shape so it doesn’t look like a lot of maint. required.
Either move them to our account or send the adoption requests and we will take it from there.
JohnWe found that cache also and found it very interesting. This is why we love cemetary caches. We always walk around the cemetary and very rarely do we not find something interesting.
We had cached with Dave a few times and he was always a happy sort. Most of his 104 caches are in our area so we have done most of them. He had quite a variety of hides from the Black Box Series to hides out in Pine Island. About 40 of his hides are still active, I wonder what happens to them now?
I always thought his geocaching name of Bugsmasher was perfect for a long haul truck driver. He was always doing some sort of hook ups with his computer gear and cell phone. Even before the days of Smart Phones. I would usually hear from him right after one of our new caches were published about where he was and mad that he was missing an FTF chance.
We will miss him.
The video is no longer available.
I did tell the VLogger that his video was well done and entertaining and he apologized for not getting permission first ( we may not have given permission due to the problems we have had in the Dells this year ).
It just seems that all of geocachings emphasis is on the consumer (finder) and none on the producer (hider) and we are just a little sick of it. Smartphone APPS that allow anyone to find caches sounds like a good idea (if you are the finder) but our incidents of mischief have certainly increased since this became available.
But I am getting sidetracked. This problem seems to be solved unless the caches disappear in the near future.
JohnWe have communicated with the Vlogger ( geocachingvlogger ) from MN and he has offered to remove the video of our caches from the Internet. He says that he normally gets permission first but for some reason didn’t this time. We did request that he remove the video. Thanks everyone for the help.
You know it is crap like this that makes us question why we hide caches. The is very little respect for the people that make this game possible. No hidders nothing to find.
MacGyver74 has been sent an adoption request for DePere Lower. That still leaves the cache in Wrightstown available.
There are only two “Trail of the serpent” caches still looking for new owners.
