Our # 2 state is Alabama. We have developed the wonderful habit of spending a month or two of the loooong Wisconsin winter in Gulf Shores Alabama. There are some great caches in the area. We are not quite comfortable with the creepy crawlies that live in the state so are very careful where we stick our hands and feet.
We are still looking for new owners for six of the TOTS caches.
GCV3PC Omro Pines for you : Trail of the serpent
GCV467 Insane Oshkosh : Trail of the serpent
GCV3PH Big Lake Butte des Mort : Trail of the serpent
GCV96H DePere Rapids Lower : Trail of the serpent
GCV7JT Wrightstown : Trail of the serpent
GCV96N Allouez : Trail of the serpentYes this is the one that CJ hired a snowmobile to carry him to an FTF.
I guess caches need to be un-found for a little over a year to get on the list. (I still can’t get the rules to display)
Lone_Gunman has been sent “The Mouth of the River”, the last cache is “The Trail of the Serpent” Series.
ThanksKaukauna Eagle View GCV7JK has been sent to isjustus4. Thanks
Sorry isjustus4 I just sent The Real Grand Chute to Woodland3000. Eagle View is still available and it looks like you found it with your daughter on 5/16/2010. It has one DNF currently so hope it is there. GCV7JK
I will send you an email to see if you can jog your memory.
JohnWoodland3000 is the new owner of GCV7HW “Hill of the Dead”
There are still 9 out there looking for new owners
Omro—Butte des Morts—Oshkosh—The Real Grand Chute
Eagle View Kaukauna—Wrightstown—DePere Lower
Allouez—Mouth of the RiverWoodland3000 has taken Doty Island GCV7HP. That still leaves 10 TOTS caches lokking for a new owner.
Thanks Ed. Those two have been sent to you.
Congrats Dave & June on the big number. Have a ball with the next 10K!
The jerky is venison also not turkey. Enjoy the remains of the bag.
01/26/2013 at 3:10 pm in reply to: Big Kitty Sighting near Chippewa Flowage. (Sawyer County) #1967741Here is the info directly from the Wisconsin DNR site.
“Biologist tracks cougar in Sawyer County
After hearing of a cougar possibly treed off County Highway B in Sawyer County, DNR biologist Adrian Wydeven confirmed the presence of a cougar near the Chippewa Flowage. On January 19, a local hunter, along with other houndsmen, had treed the cat in some large, dead white pines where it sat about 15-20 feet up the trees. They were able to confirm the cougar was male. Then, on January 22, the hunter followed the cougar tracks all the way to Big Timber Island on the Chippewa Flowage, about 2 miles to the west. On January 23 and with the hunter’s assistance, Wydeven tracked the cat as it bounded, then walked through an area of large white pine, mature aspen and hardwoods interspersed with wetlands, sedge meadow and conifer bog. Wydeven tracked the cat for nearly a mile until the tracks disappeared in an area of dense windthrows and much deer activity. The cougar did not appear to try to leave the area, and meandered about as if it was again hunting shortly after leaving the tree.”It was Zoesbrother breaking trail and when we left The Wet Maze GZ he took off across the marsh to another cache located off to the north. We couldn’t even see him moving through the cat tails. In the summer you wouldn’t be as high up in the air due to your butt being in 3′ of mud.
Sloughfoot was in on the group hike three years ago and so don’t need the Wet Maze nor a warmup for the Expedition. I will plan on meeting you all at the parking area for the Expedition at 1pm Sat. It looks like a good day for a walk in the marsh. Also I don’t have a snakebite kit. Any snakes found on Saturday could probably be used for a walking stick. See you there.
Thanks T&B. We visited with Lady Eleanor a couple of months ago when they opened the Badger Ordinance site to the public for one day. Had to stop and walk through that interesting place again. She told us the pickers had been there but didn’t know when they would show it. Got it on the TIVO now.
