As far as I’m concerned, and especially knowing how much effort it has taken me to hide the 100 caches for “The Highway 100 -100, one log per find is perfectly acceptable. To the best of my knowledge, only 1 of the series is closer than 1/10 of a mile. I purposly placed the caches at least 1/10th. to make them more chalenging.I also used as many different types of containers as I could to make it more interesting too. If it weren’t for the nightmare it would create making them each stand alone caches and the maintainence problems involved. I would leave them all up as permenent caches. My two cents is that after caching in 9 different states and seeing the overall quality of our states caches and events, I think we should allow temp. cache logs.
All 100 are now placed. I will spend the next couple of weeks tweeking the caches, and moving a few to make them more difficult to find. I am thinkiong about having the event at my house, since it is pretty much centrally located amongst the caches. I would provide coffee, doughnuts, milk and juice. If we wnat to turn it into a regular breakfast, we could get volunteers to bring in other foods and make a meal of it. Let me know what you think. I have a very large back yard and a school parking lot two doors down to accomodate whoever shows, so at least parking wouldn’t be a problem.
I placed 4 more fillers along the stretch of Highway 100 between North Avenue and Greenfield Avenue and moved a couple others to more challanging places, bringing the total to 73 placed, 27 to go. I hope to have them all in place within the next week to give me enough time to change some of them if need be.
13 more placed this morning bringing the total to 69, 31 to go.
SockoI am having some t-shirts made up for the event and will post a picture of them as soon as I get one from the vendor. The cost will be $12.00 – $15.00 each. Drop me a line if you are interested!
SockoSo far just a couple are too close, ie, under 1/10th of a mile apart, to be permenant. Also, I can’t see how I could get all 100 to come on line at the same time. It was hard enough to get the 50 SOM up at the same time, and this is double that. I had planned to have at least 10 or so to be permenant, to allow people to log 10 of the temps. per cache page. I will email Brian to see what he says. Maybe he can preapprove some of the caches and hold them till the event or something like that to make it easier. I will see what I can do. I will leave the series up as long as I can to allow people to hunt them longer than just the event day, but sooner or later some of them will go missing and I don’t have the time to maintain 100 caaches, since that in itself would be a full time job.
