Hey Marc, Hiking Long’s Peak isn’t for “wimps”, but at one time, my Dad & I thought that we were too “wimpy” to try the hike, too. But, we did it ! 😀 And, it is one of the best memories that I have of my dear Dad. We did have to find rocks to sit down on every 10-15 minutes though, as we huffed and puffed our way up the trail … But, it was well worth it !
Thanks, Crippler. That is good to know.

Okay, “Bartroddy”,
I’ll forgive you this time . . . But, please try to be “nice” from now on, okay?
=)I sent you a private message that should explain a lot of things.
And, for the rest of you, one of the main reasons that I decided to take up geo-caching in the first place is because it was in our local free newspaper a few weeks ago, and sounded like fun. Also, I grew up camping all over the country, and Wisconsin with my family [3 older sisters, and formerly both of my parents] – taking 2-3 week vacations to awesome places like the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Boston and Cape Cod. [But, my very active 77 year old Dad was diagnosed with “End stage Leukemia in July 2007, and due to complications from chemotherapy, etc., he passed away and went to live in Heaven on March 24, 2008].
But. our favorite place to go on summer vacations was to go to Estes Park, Colorado, which is where Rocky Mountain National Park is near. And, we used to take “Day hikes” there whenever we were able to get there. But, I feel extremely blessed to have been able to go with my dear Dad to take a very rigorous hike up to the “Keyhole” of “Long’s Peak” in August 1994; a hike that took us from 2 a.m. [with backpacks and strong flashlights] to 6 p.m. that evening [Mom couldn’t go with us as she had a very bad heel spur that year]. And, just for your information, this guy named Mike M. has a website of that hike, along with many others. So, go take a peek: http://www.mikes-hikes.com/mrh/mrh20.html
So, although I may be new to geo-caching, I am a fairly well-seasoned “hiker”.
However, neither my Mom nor I can do much hiking anymore, due to medical conditions. Mom’s causes her to use oxygen 24/7 [and it was not even due to smoking].
And, mine causes my muscles to be weaker than a 41 year old’s should be [so I cannot walk or hike long distances any more without the use of a walker = 🙁 ]. But, my doctors cannot figure out what is causing it, except that they do know that I acquired a very unusual involuntary movement disorder called “an Adult on-set Tic Disorder”, which causes my jaw to move “constantly”, and other parts of my body, mainly my head and neck, to move around whenever they “feel like it”. And, I do take some meds. to calm the Tic Disorder down, but nothing has been found to “cure it” completely.
So, before my dear Dad passed away, they decided to become “seasonal campers” at a very nice campground just outside of Brodhead, Wisconsin called “Crazy Horse Campground”, so we spend many of our summer weekends out there, to relax and meet new friends….
But, I wanted to try out geo-caching so I could “stay active”. Besides, it sounded like so much fun !
And, it would be really nice to meet up with some of you, sometime, too, if at all possible.

So, where would I need to send the $25.00 permit fee to ???
I want to place at least 1 cache in a city park [or maybe just outside of it], is there anything in particular that I need to do in order to get permission to do so?
Thank you
