For breakfast and lunch you can’t beat The Kitchen in Superior! (not open for suppers) Lunch specials are usually about $5.80 and you can’t eat all the home cooked food they give you. N 46 43.961 W 92 05.352
I was just shopping at Gander and they had a lot of hikers on sale for $100 or less. Timberland, Columbia and others.
you fall about 40′ down a very steep hill, stop from going into the river by hitting your head on a boulder and still sign the cache log on the way back up the hill. Then you talk about continuing your planned caching day after the doctor stitches you up…

“See, I told you I was sick.”, my uncle Ronny’s request for his headstone. Seriously. Thankfully, my aunt didn’t grant that wish.
I have two pairs of Timberland boots and they’re the best I’ve ever bought. They felt comfortable from the first day I bought them which I have never experienced with any other boot in my life. My first pair have been worn almost daily and they’re still in great shape on the uppers….too bad the bottoms are worn almost flat. I just can’t give them up.
02/27/2012 at 8:17 pm in reply to: Information for a newbie on placing caches in Barron County #1957137Our county and city don’t have ordinances against it and that’s where I would start if I was you (looking to see if it’s legal). Call the Sheriff or your city Police and ask. They probably won’t have a clue and that would indicate that there probably isn’t a law in place so you would be ok. You can call the local parks and rec and see if they have a policy about posting them in parks and what to do if they allow it. If you read the Geocaching.com rules about placement and make a few phone calls you should be ok. If you’re new to this the best thing you can do is get a few cache finds under your belt to see how people are doing it. If you’ve done that then go out and drive around or scope out a good spot on the map (or Google Earth), get your cache container ready and hit the trail to find a good place to hide it. If I find a wooded area in town and it’s not indicated as a park on the map I check with the city assessor to check the plat map and see who owns it. I just explained to them what I was doing and that I was making sure I was staying off private property and they have always been happy to help me. Our county (Douglas) has the plat maps online so you can see who owns property without leaving your house so yours might too if you are in a different one. Good luck and have fun!
Cool, I’ll try that. Any suggestions on how to make the directional pointer smaller? When you’re near GZ the pointer totally blocks out the cache.
Here’s a great story from last night that I posted on MnGCA and I thought I’d share it here too:
We were out looking for a cache tonight and one of our local coppers stopped to see what we were doing. We explained and he helped us look and he ended up finding it. Hopefully we got him hooked on the sport. He’ll probably be telling all his friends about the two crazy guys in the woods during a blizzard who were looking for tupperware.
The evidence:
http://coord.info/GC1292BThat’s what I did. I downloaded and installed the maps for the different areas of the state and other places I might go. It’s not very user-friendly. I put the IMG files in and I magically has streets.
Thank you Sweetlife for posting the link to the maps. You saved me money on that and I now have streets instead of just the basic map. I also discovered the dashboard feature that lets you put up the compass and distance when going to a cache. My friend had that feature on his iPad app and he would go faster as he got close and I wouldn’t know how far I was so he would get a little extra time at GZ before I got there. You can also touch on the cache icon on the dashboard and bring up the details, hints and log posts. Very handy feature!
After a winter carnival in Superior, two men were discussing what should be done with the ice sculpture that was erected for the event. One of them wanted to tear it down, but the other insisted that they leave it up so it would be ready for next year’s event.
^^ Now I’m kind of concerned cause that sounds like one of my posts ^^

One thing I don’t like with this unit is that any cache loaded from GSAK can’t be edited on the device. That’s frustrating when solving puzzles cause I used to just go in and edit the coords in my GPS, now I have to edit them in GSAK first or forget it.
If it is just one cache, you can go into the geocache menu, scroll down to “Enter Next Stage”. It will hold those coords as next stage until you change another set of coords. This is also useful for doing multis.
That’s a slick solution, thanks. I didn’t see that option in the menu. I’m getting used to the new GPS in the field, but I wish it would show distance when you are heading toward a cache. My friend uses an app and it shows the distance so he can speed up when we get close to get some extra time looking before I catch up 😆
Your logo would look very cool on a regular mug or travel mug to bring out caching in the field.
