Too bad you didn’t get one of those puzzle boxes, I could see Tom out there for hours while a lined formed.

next time. …I just have to post the wrong combo for a lock and he would sit there for hours…

Of coarse I would fix it on day 2 😈

Racine didn’t get the big big stroms, but starting Sunday the root river kept rising. Many of our caches are under up to 4 ft of water. weeeee boat caches. I have never seen the river this high. we have one high school submerged. Island park is now atlantis. the entire park is 4 ft under and the rivers that surrond the park have merged into one lake.

the new bike trail along the river is gone. it is really weird to see the lamp post popping up from the water. I live on a hill so all is well for me, but there are a few sections of the city that are shut down.

here is a good photo of a bike trail gone bad. See if you can find the park bench

follow the lamp posts to stage 2 of a multicache

It seems to me, that if this is juts the “starting point” for a multi cache, and there won’t be anything actually AT the location, it wouldn’t be too hard to just move down the trail a few feet and mark that as the starting location.

Since there will not be a “cache” at that location, it could be right in the middle of the trail even. it’s just a starting point for the trail right?

this was my question. The Caches will be more than 2 mile apart when finished. but can waypoint….or non finials of a multi be closer together? that was my real question.

The one main thing about temps was…..there are some people who never stop moving. I like to find a cache a week. Others have to find one a day. Others have a weekly quota for themselves that is much higher. This was a way to at least get them to stop for a minuet to socialize without haveing to think how to get my cache fix.

It was right there along with all the people.

High Cliff has some great areas. I was just there 2 weekends ago. All I kept thinking to myself was. GOOD PLACE FOR A CACHE. there were only 3 in the park. I walked the 5 miles with 5 scouts to get them, but there is pleanty of open space (if alowed by the park) and great trails.

I would return there for a daytrip.

    yah know what….

Benchmarks are calculated in you stats as finds but do not add to your total. that might even be a thing to push.

If a temp is hidden by someone else and I found it, I would like to keep track of it. If you are going to approach groundspeak, maybe go that way.

    Geocaches
    Benchmarks
    Temps

Three different counts on your stats. If you get tons of temps. You have had quite a few really busy days. You can also keep track of the cool ones.

I have been a member of the WGA for a while now. I do have the “yes” to the newsletter marked on my account. I have never recieved one. Until this past referendum I was unaware of that section. I caught it two days late and missed the vote. it is someting I will be checking more often now.

As far as the decieson. I am glad to see it was put up to a vote of the members. there are strong views on both sides…….so to “let things be” was hard to do.

If this organization it going to be our states representitive of Geocaching, we must follow what is accepted for WGA events.

personal events are still up to each individual. Goundspeak guidelines spacificly refer to a “Temporary Cache” as a cache that will not be published for less than 3 months or at event. It says you can provide printouts on the day of an event for temps. So they do exist, and can be placed. There is just no way provided to log them.

Personal events do not have the bank roll of the WGA. A couple of extra finds make some people happy…….great.

I do like the idea for WGA events to have some sort of prize. 10 temps —get all ten stamps—-get a prize sort of thing. It does encorage the hunt of the temps. FOX6 had a cache event like that. The whole event wasn’t logiable, but if you found all their caches on the day you got a coin.

    WGA events no temp…..good idea
personal event temps…Do what you choose to get cachers out there.

    Just my thoughts…..afterthoughts.

I have always thought of Temp caches as an “ECO_BOOST”. If you attended an event with temps, it was like the power pellot in Pac-Man. Plus you got to meet some cachers and get new ideas for caches.

I have also seen some event holders spacificly say “I do have temp but please do not log this event more that once.”

If that should occur we must repect the event holders request. Such is now the request of WGA events.

The CITOs have attended and found it options. That is all that would really need to be added to an event. FOUND IT 10 times attended once. not attended 11 times.

in reply to: How accurate is your GPS? #1888265

I once saw a neat little experiment. At a wga picnic they gave us coords. and a flag. We were supposed to put our flag where we zeroed out. It was neat to see the range. It wasn’t the same for any two gps’s. some were grouped and some were in trees. this was an open field with no tree cover. I noted those that were way off in case I looked for one of their caches. HMMMMMMM 75ft nw of my zero.
