  • Bec,

Do you have Windows Media Player installed? It’s a totally unreliable piece-o-carp application, but it can play .wmv files (when it works properly).

QuickTime won’t play .wmv files. That may be your problem …just a guess, though.

Thanks, Bec. It sounds like fun.

I understand how from a reviewer’s perspective, so many of these caches can be a pain, but from a cacher’s perspective…

Having too many multi/series caches seems like a wonderful problem to have when considering that many areas are suffering from a “lamp post micro” epidemic.

It’s a tight contest. What happens in the event of a tie??

I was searching for this thread from last winter and thought I might as well bump it to the top.
    Ho-hum…

    Thanks for your efforts, Tie!

The two of us were camping at Day Lake in Chequamegon National Forest this past summer. Driving to the dumpster from our campsite, we saw a small Black Bear running down the access road. Luckily, we were in the car at the time, but the entire rest of the weekend, which included hiking a couple of The Lil Otter’s WWF caches, was spent being paranoid of becoming a meal. Looking back, it was an amazing experience seeing a bear. I’m sure such sightings are common for people living in bear country, but for city slickers, it makes for a memorable experience.

Are Black Bears becoming more common in the state?

Wow! That’s way more than I ever expected. THANKS!! I guess I’ll have to get out soon and start knocking a few off my incredibly long to-do list. Thanks, again.

That’s sad to hear. I hope you’ll have a change of heart.

Great post, but in my opinion, most of it isn’t needed for these forums. It’s kind of strange here… I see people commenting about negative threads or posts way more often than I actually see negative threads or posts. Perhaps I am less sensitive to the negativity than other people, perhaps the comments about negativity are often to keep a thread from becoming more negative instead of directed at negativity that has already been seen, or perhaps I just don’t read these forums enough to truly gauge it.

The part of your advice that I would like to emphasize is that what appears to be a negative post/thread is often not intended to be. If a comment seems nagative, simply ignore it. In fact, actually pointing out negativity can, in a way, also be a form of negativity.

Assume the best, ignore the rest! (I just made that up now… pretty good, hey!!)

    Please?

You know, like this one posted for May’s results or this one for April’s? I actually started saving the lists. Any cache that someone thought worthy of a COTM nomination would probably be a good one to get out and do, I was thinking, and although I haven’t been caching much lately, it would still be nice to have the lists for each month.

    Please?

Just a heads up… the road that is recommended parking for “Dew It For Fun” has a gate across it that was closed when I did the cache. I had to park on the main road. It’s only side-of-the-road parking at those coordinates, anyway. Perhaps a diferent choice would work better for your meeting spot?

It’s a beautiful area, though. ENJOY!!

I’ve been there only once, long before my days as a cacher, but thought it was a really fun place to visit. The food was excellent. I had some type of garlic steak, I remember, and the prices were extremely reasonable… (my parents paid). I’d certainly recommend going if you haven’t been there.

I really enjoy reading Today’s Cacher. In fact, this month it features an article on skin cancer.
