Thanks for the info on this! I know this area and would love to know more about it.
Thanks for the insights everyone. It makes me feel better about heading out into the woods this Spring/Summer. Don’t know if $50.00 for bear spray is worth the extra peace of mind. Maybe just a good stout hiking staff will do the trick for me. Who said it? – “Speak softly and carry a big stick” 😀
It’s been since last night for me too. Luckily I got my finds logged yesterday before the problems started but no luck loading up some new ones for today.
Hopefully they will figure it out soon. 😕
Wow! Folks have been busy hiding things…I’d better get cracking. Those caches aren’t going to find themselves!
To find them all in a year, you’d have to do about what…21 a day?
Yesterday I was relieved as “Loillipop” finally quit running through my head (thanks greyhounder). Then on my way home from work I turned on the radio and you know what I heard?
“Rocking in the Free World”!
Geesh…I can’t win
I gotta stop shopping at Menards. There it is old guys in overalls running the scam.
That is hilarious!
So do you get another Find for that? 🙂 Or maybe they take one away if you find it twice…in two weeks…and take the same geocoin.
Wow, the pictures are unbelievable. Such damage…and in Winter. Glad to hear you are all safe though.
I check neatorama.com every day. Usually has lots of great stuff.

Hmm…puzzle caches seem to be something from the “Dark Side”. I think Master Yoda said it best when he uttered, “Coordinates falsely given are coordinates not.”
But then again it might be fun. 🙂
I think I may have to give this puzzle cache thing a try.
My wife is going to think I am bonkers by the way. Any advice on that?
And lastly…this is one of the funniest things I have ever read…
“…the allure of using billion-dollar satellites to hunt tupperware in shrubbery…” by gotta run
That should go on a t-shirt!
Benchmark? Well now I am going to have to research what that is. If they haven’t been found in 30 years – and I am a HUGE history buff -then those sound like something pretty cool.
Also, another question if I can (should probably pose this in the newbie forum). I am heading to the Cities for the holidays and want to try for Find #2 while I am there. I came across a puzzle cache while researching the area. I have read many references on this site to puzzle caches and understand them somewhat. My big question is if they have gps coordinates listed, then what is the puzzle about? Will I not find the cache if I follow the coords? What does the puzzle portion of it do?
Well I am happy to see that I’m not the only one who gets a little excited about finding a cache. 🙂
Some of you mentioned having “joined the club” and you know it really is kind of like that. I find it amazing that I now know about this little hidden treasure that the majority of the world has no clue about! In fact driving in to work this morning I was looking at people in their cars wondering if any of them were geocachers and thusly in on the secret. I know before I came upon this sport I had no clue something like this existed. To me it is very cool to know that all around us are these caches just waiting to be found. It’s like a whole other world is going on in front of our eyes and yet only certain people see it.
Great to see there are others up this way!
I have been researching some of the caches around these parts and have finally noticed the “Available in Winter” attribute symbol. Would you recommend only going after those caches that have such an attribute or is it possible to find any cache in the snow? I don’t mind digging or searching but do people remove caches in the winter?
