I tend to go no stealth (which is easier in the Great Northwoods), but will tend to try stealth with kids in the area OR will just end up coming back later. For some reason I tend to think a kid will be curious and take a cache – maybe too much teaching?!?

First, thanks again to the Captain for commenting on all of this.

This is especially true for placements around playground equipment. When you place these, be sure to NOT tell your finders to be sneaky. Instead, encourage them to interact with the neighbors. Most people who are watching would really like to know what you are doing, so telling them removes the threat. Its true that one person in 100 will disturb the cache, but most people will be respectful and probably have fun “helping” finders in the future.

I agree! I give presentations to other teachers to try and get them to incorporate caching in their classrooms – EVERYONE I talk to (teacher or not) gets interested in what we do and almost always wants to learn more. Furthermore, people are MORE than willing to help if they know what’s there.

Enjoy some great weather days – I unfortunately am sick and on the couch. ๐Ÿ™

Thanks all for your kind words of congratulations – some day I’ll have as many finds as you. AND…the DeLorme is my summer goal. ๐Ÿ˜€

I missed this on the news last night / this morning, but my students were all excited to tell me about it.

Here’s a link to the video (for those of you interested and away from the Valley) http://www.fox11online.com/dpp/news/local_wluk_allouez_bomb_squad_detonates_suspicious_device_200903151534_rev1

I think the bottom line is that labels/stickers are needed. Maybe we’ll get more cachers from people seeing this story…

…yes we do read the forums and appreciate a little help on HOW to solve puzzles. I, for one, DO the work but also understand both viewpoints. My point here? Don’t count out the little guys (or girls). ๐Ÿ˜€

    Jim,

Thanks for the reply. I acutally saw some of your classes TBs last weekend when Sparse Grey Hackle gave them to my dad (refelo) to move along. My class only started one TB last year and it hasn’t done much, but goal is to start a lot more this year.

I teach 7th & 8th grade At-Risk in Wrightstown. I only have about 12 students. I think it would be great if we could figure out a “Field Trip” day of caching…maybe in the spring?

Thanks! I’ll let you know, still need to order them, etc. so chances may be slim.
