I’ve started a “KFC in the Valley” bookmark. It’s VERY short right now, I need to go back and add hides that I found previous to creating it.

On the complete opposite end of things, I tend to wear brightly colored shirts when caching (especially in the Northwoods). I guess I figure if I’m stranded in the woods the rescue helicopter would be able to find me more quickly. 😆
Or I wear my Northwoods Treasure Hunt shirt with coords on the back, maybe people will know what I’m doing if I wear that. 8)
1000 already? WOW!
Ryan, there are other things than Geocaching. 😆
Nice job!
Somewhat related…I just published my first multi. In order to make sure I had the math done accurately, I gave my dad a cache sheet that I printed. He called me when he had it solved and said “Is the cache suppose to go _______.” So, then I knew the numbers were right. In fact, there was a little piece that needed to be tweaked and we were able to work that out before it got published. I’m working on my first puzzle and will probably have him check it as well. (Since they’re both Up North, closer to him, it works out.)
In addition, I’m a firm believer that if a puzzle cache page CAN have Geochecker, it should. This way if the solver is wrong they know it ahead of time and don’t spend time wondering the woods/streets on a wild goose chase. (Of course Geocecker only works with puzzles that are solved at home, not on the spot or from a marker.) And, after a couple “wrong” results they’ll probably ask you for a clue or some help.

I didn’t stick around to tell him the finer aspects of geocaching.
can’t imagine why!?! 😆
As a teacher who has used Geocaching in my classroom (and also presented on it to At-Risk teachers), I have always pointed out these benefits:
Geography: Longitude & Latitude, Mapping
Language Arts: Journals, Articles (writing and reading them)
Character Education: teamwork, trustworthiness, self-esteem
History: see new places, learn local history
Physical Education
Science: Environmental issues – they always remind me of CITOI’m sure there’s more, but these are the ones I thought of.
Way to go neighbor! 😀
Seriously? 😯
I’m very disappointed in this whole thing. I can’t believe there are people out there as part of this game that are like that. I wonder how they would have reacted if your family came along? Then they couldn’t have said you chased them into the woods.
And, I thought the saying was Cache in Trash OUT! 😆
Is Wautoma in this geographic area?
If so, I recommend The Farmer’s Market on the corners of Hwy 21 and Hwy 22. Open seasonally – but an extensive menu that is delicious and reasonable. (not to mention you can get some fresh produce, antiques, etc. after you eat)
YAY! Way to go zb!
I have the nuvi 250 and I really like it – caching is MUCH easier when you know where you’re going. 😆
Mine DOES hold an SD card. I’ve actually put my digital camera card in it to view pictures as a slide show.
Since I don’t have a USB cord for it (yet) I don’t know about the GSAK capabilities but I know that you can download new road maps for free from Garmin (with a USB). Also, there’s a “detour” button you can press to get around construction.
Hope that helps! Happy shopping!
Nice list!
I would add to comment on the state/condition of the cache and swag if need be. (broken container, no swag, full log, etc.)
Congrats!

Went and visited Trekin and Birdin’ at the cabin with the folks. We told them the site was down but figured it was a small glitch that would be fixed… wait til they hear the rest of the story. We had no caching plans for a few days so this is good… T & B are not near a cell tower or internet either.
TEBut, T&B managed to find my new hide “Up North.” 😀 (probably with a little help from their friends/family)
So…dress code for the next Geo-flash mob? 😆
