by following the past precedences of the WGA and promoting the CITO events across the state. The main purpose of the WGA is to promote Geocaching in the state of Wisconsin. Leave no trace is part of that, but it is not the main goal of the WGA.
Congrats on the milestone. 1500 smiles to you.
no banner at all, it shows up on other pages like wild bunch, but not WGA
Yep its liked
I will be heading south for this one, making a stop in Pulaski to pick up lone_gunman about 8:00 am
If anyone else in the area wants to carpool let me know
I like the above ideas, I have to admit, I am not much of a story writer, even with my 5 years of working at a newspaper, I did lots of photography, copy setting and editing, but not much writing. My main job there was printing the paper. but when you work at a weekly paper, there is many other jobs to do.
I do take many photos and could contribute them to the site.

gotta have about 6-8 inches of new snow to make Cracking Down more fun 🙂
There was more snow than that last year, and this cache was a great one to find, more fun in a group.
I have thought about it, and I am in. Will see you on Saturday.

We can leave the hot chocolate at the parking area.
You can have chocolate milk on Sunday!More like chocolate pops with the overnight temps
Technology has helped and hurt the sport.
It has helped by bringing geocaching more mainstream, by giving people the chance to try the sport.
but it has hurt the sport also.
I have seen TB’s and coins go missing from “first and only” cache finds by new cell phone cachers.
Smart phones are also not accurate enough to place caches. I have found a couple that were 80+ ft off that were placed by smart phone.
IMPO the geocaching website should ask what unit the cache was placed with and should be on the cache page.
Online I try to do everything in a timely manner, I am usually on the site at least 2-3 times a day.
At the events, I try to get there as soon as possible, and try to stay around until everything is cleaned up.
This was a good question last year, and thanks for recycling it.
Since I have become a BOD member, I could prob count on one hand the amount of days that I have not logged into the website at least once during the day. If you ask the current board, I can be opinionated, and have brought up some ideas that some of the BOD members do not agree with, but will support the final decisions of the BOD.
After being in the position, there is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes of the big events that most of the attendees never know about. There is planning for the Spring campout in the works already.
Luckily my job does not require me to work weekends, and my commitments to the Ambulance and Fire Dept do not often hamper my weeekends off either. Most of the time during the summer, I also have Fridays off. This works well for our caching time at the big events as we have a day for ourselves to cache the area and still be able to work at the events.
I have enjoyed the last 2 years on the BOD and hope that I will be able to serve on the BOD for another 2 years.
Yes, I also think it should be continued
I just have signed up for the Iowa Geocaching Website. Once my membership is approved, I can get into more of the info, but they also have a COTM. From what I have seen so far, is when you vote for a cache, it gets a point value based on how far it is from your home coords. This way someone who votes from 100 miles from the cache would give it 100 points, but it would take 20 local votes 5 miles away to get the same points. was thinking this was a good idea, but want to get more info on it first.
I vote for COTM when I can, but most of the time, I have not found the nominated caches. I have also nominated caches from time to time.
One of my caches has also received COTM.
