We just signed up for a subscription, sounds like a good magazine,
Education!
Over the years we have seen more and more restrictions on where we can place caches, (City restrictions, park restrictions, etc) I think more time should be spent on working with communities to lessen restrictions on cache placements. Communities need to realize that geocaching is a activity that brings people and $$$ to the area and restrictions just sends us elsewhere to caching.
Overall we need to get some statewide exposure for our sport and group in general.I enjoy traveling to all corners of Wisconsin to attend the WGA events (and others). We have attended every WGA event over the past 2 years (except the fall CITO, conflicts with Fire Dept Training both years) I enjoy working at the events, I have not yet chaired a event, but am looking forward to the 2013 Picnic that is in the NE quad of the state and tentatively scheduled for Gov Thompson State park.
I can bring good work ethics, quick problem solving when things start to go wrong, and can flip a mean pancake. (one of my favorite jobs at events)
Thanks for the question Pete
I can only speak for myself, but I have enjoyed serving on the board for the last 2 years. If nominated, I would love to continue to serve on the BOD again.
The Current Board Members who’s terms are up are:
Ralph Edwards
Renee Vanselow-Tapp
Barry Butrymowicz

The north campground is closer to the highway. We have never camped that loop so I am not sure if it is noisier there or not.
Usually do not hear traffic over the A/C and the TV anyway 😀
We are in Site 31 on the north loop. search on you tube and enter Interstate State park, there was a great video showing all the sites, that is how we picked ours. Also needed the 30 Amp hookups.
Here is the link to the WGA Events Page, No GC page set up yet

Campout Yes and Yes,
Picnic Nothing Final Yet, should be in the NE Section.

I’ve never been to a WGA campout. Could someone give me a brief description of what takes place? And do people stay in cabins, tents, RVs, etc.? :arf:
If you are planning on staying in the group site, then a tent will be your home as popups and Travel Trailers are not allowed in them. If you prefer to have your own site, you can do that too, either tenting or in a camper.
There is also the option to stay at a hotel, not sure what is in the area as we have never been there.
Sometime during the weekend we usually do a CITO event, plenty of time for caching, and pancake breakfast on Sunday morning.
Here is last years event if you want to check out what happened last year.

We ended up spending a better part of the day yesterday fixing all the lights and moving the decorations from the trees that were cut down to other trees that needed some decor. fixed many strings of lights, many were destroyed to the point that they were junk. about $2000 worth of lights. and the cost of the 11 trees. So far there have been many donations in time and materials, in Spring the trees will be replaced. A local tree farm that had recently closed, has offered new trees to transplant. It was very sad to see the damage they caused.
Will update the event page tonight.
When I ran my last Event PQ, it was not in the list.
Finally got ours today. Woohoo, I was worried when we posted it here for all to find out about them, and we were not getting one of the bubble envelopes in our mailbox.

What about an interstate tug of war? One for kids, one for adults?
Across the river? 😈
With the 200′ cliffs in the park, that could be quite interesting 😀
