If people feel like they have to write a individual log for each temporary that they found, why not post it as a note????

They are getting the satisfaction of posting each cache that they found, but not padding their numbers.

On Ground speak forums we came up with this idea, to add a line to the profile counts to have a “unique cache count” that will only count a cache once

No matter how many times you find and drop the same travel bug, it only counts the first time, If groundspeak will only count a travel bug once, why not caches too.

I guess that we are proud to say that all of our finds are actual caches, If we find 50 in a day (which we have done) its a sun up to sun down day with lots of miles logged, not finding 50 in a couple of square miles in a state park.

Granted you are seeing allot of nice areas in nice park, but I would rather visit the great areas all over our state, Geocaching has shown us things that we would have never seen without this great sport.

we received a private message from someone (we will withhold the name) who is currently going back thru their logs and removing all the multiple logs. KUDOS to you.

Geocaching in a way tried to stop the multiple logging, when they changed events from found to attended, figuring that people would get the point that you can only attend something once, right, If you go to someone wedding and say go out to the car, then come back in did you attend it twice? ❓

And, the event that we did attend was in a city park over 3 hours from home in another state, we spent the entire day there, searched for many of the temporary caches there, ONLY LOGGED ONCE, listing the caches that we found.

here is our 2 cents worth, One Geocache Page = one geocache GC number = ONE LOG

We are happy to see that many of the attendees of the campout logged this way.

Our finds are actual finds, That were approved by geocaching.com We guess that is why we havent attended a event, We are sure that the caches found are of good quality and took a lot of work to set up, but still they are only temporary.

We enjoy the fact that geocaching has taken us all over the US to many interesting places, that we would have never have known existed if it wasnt for geocaching. We would rather drive from cache to cache spending a full day enjoying this hobby together, rather than spending a day in a single state park looking for temporary caches. I guess with gas prices the way they are this might be a better idea, we still enjoy doing it our way and Kudos to all who logged once since you only attended the campout ONCE not 15 – 17 or more times.

Maybe Geocaching should do the same thing with event caches that they did with virtuals put them on another site.

We are sure this might stir up some controversy but we are not pointing fingers at anyone, just stating our opinion.

I do’t apply any stickers to my windows, I went to my local hardware store and purchased a small piece of Lexan (clear plastic 1/8 inch thick and about 3 x 6 inches

I apply all my state stickers to the this plastic and keep it in my glove box and just put it in the window when I need it.

The state of michigan park system didnt like the idea too much, but I just told them that stickers on your winshield block your view witch would technically make them illegal. after that they didnt have a problem with it

we searched and found that we have cached in 38 of the 72 counties: Ashland, Bayfield, Brown, Calumet, Chippewa, Dodge, Door, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Florence, Fond Du Lac, Forest, Green Lake, Iron, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Mantowoc, Marathon, Marinette, Menominee, Milwaukee, Oconto, Outagamie, Portage, Price, Racine, Shawano, Sheboygan, Taylor, Vilas, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Winnebago.

in reply to: Travel Bug Tags-Not Your Bug…Not Your Tag! #1759813

when we find a bug with out a goal tag, if it has a goal we will print out a tag for it and just slide it in a ziplock along with the bug. We have never added our name, or even emailed the owner of the bug just to get a pat on the back. $.02 from us.

we had a tb go missing this spring in minnesota it only went 4 miles and 2 caches then gone, we are going to start another in place of it with the COPY tag, hope this one doesnt dissappear. hope you find your tb and it stays out of minnesota or the milwaukee area, there it just gets hidden in a bug hotel that no one can ever find.

in reply to: What is the strangest place you found a cache #1759533

we were not trying to throw a temper tantrum here, but we have read cache pages where the cache is actually in a body of water that has raw sewage in it, that is not only a health hazzard, its outright dangerous. (I think it was in north carolina). sometimes we vent our feelings before thinking about it, sorry to you Brian for being on the recieving end, you and Tie do a ausome job with the caches, and I have even volunteered to help (must have been tie that emailed and recieved a message back from) We will be checking with the caretakers of this wayside to see if our placement is ok and will be getting back to WGA or WGA2 when I get a OK.

we did recieve a note at to why, but we dont agree with it, We would love to post the reply here but it contains spoilers as to where the coordinates are hidden, Lets just say it is a “grey” area in the geocache rules.

in reply to: Ban on Cemetary caches #1759585

we have done many cemetary caches and have considered putting some of our own out. Neither of us have lost someone close to us yet but, we can see where people are comeing from with the bad memories. We enjoy looking at the gravestones and have seen many interesting stones. We have yet to be at a cache when a funeral was in progress, but we would respect the family and would leave the cemetary without doing that cache that day. there are many of these type of caches in the appleton/green bay area by mark54140 and he does a excelent job of hiding his caches in a respectful manor. Hope geocaching doesnt take these great hiding spots from us.

in reply to: Weirdest Find #1749409

List the name or waypoint of the cache, so we can find it also.

Our coolest find, but not so kid friendly was hanging in a old abandoned well in the middle of the forest.

Cache name is : Sub-Terrianian Home Sick Blues
    Use waypoint: GCKXEV

    Things that are bad
1.(at least in the northwoods):Smelly Soaps, Candles, and bubbles All these things will attract animals expecially bears to your caches.
    2. A generally bad thing Razor Blades or Razor Knives, We take these things out every time We find them, had them in our bag one time after we took them out and I cut my finger really bad once.

we usually go to the dollar store or walmart for our goods, and get the stuff we would want to grab ourselves
