My golf game has really suffered since we began caching in 2005.

Also, I really like my sig line.

They seem to be retreating up here now… haven’t seen any in weeks actual last ones we saw were in MO on our trip our west.
TEOver here, there were a lot of ticks being reported on logs of our caches in the Escanaba area this weekend. It shouldn’t be long now before we won’t be seeing them either. 😀
Congratulations on the cacheiversary. Thanks for sharing, and here’s to a wonderful 2nd year of caching!

We do enjoy reading what others write about our caches, got a chuckle from one last week that said the cache was “uneventful” but area was nice… it’s at the source of the WI river and has a bunch of history going back into the 1600’s. posted there… the whole purpose is to get people there not to spend time ripping up the place searching for a cache but to enjoy the beauty and history that abounds.
I watch that cache of yours because we enjoyed the spot so much. I have to say I was a little bit insulted by that log…and it wasn’t even our cache.
As for writing cache logs, I get fairly frustrated by cut and paste logs myself, as I enjoy reading about other people’s caching adventures almost as much as caching itself. In our area, we probably own about half the caches that are hidden (and watch the other half), so when someone comes through with a “Out caching with XXX, TFTC, TNLN” type log, it gets very old very fast.
We are just as guilty about power caching as the next person, but we try to take some notes on each cache. If we go out and find 20-30 in a day, I don’t try to log them all at once, because I know that if I do it will be difficult to give each cache the thought it needs. In certain situations, (like light pole or dead end caches) we will leave a very short note, because what can you really say about that type of hide? Luckily for us, there aren’t too many of those up here! 😆
I echo the above comments about GSAK. I have found the software to be a tremendous help for our caching activities. The help files for this program is about as good as you will ever find, and if you can’t find an answer in there the GSAK forums at the GSAK site are very helpful as well.
Give it another shot, and I would suggest that any questions you have could easily be answered by fellow cachers in these forums. I have helped quite a few people with GSAK in the Michigan forums and am willing to answer any questions here.
There are two in Marinette (about 35-40 miles north of Green Bay).
Menekaunee Red Arrow: Night Cache
I know they are not in Green Bay or Marshfield, but thought if you were really interested in night caches you may want to make that trip.

I have resigned myself to bread crumbing our ATV rides and not worry about the maps for that,
I haven’t actually used it, just looked at it a few times, but maybe you could do something with the Active Trails website.
There aren’t currently any trails for it in Wisconsin, but you could upload some trails and then re-download them in the future if you revisit an area. Less than optimal I know, but a possible solution.
We received one in the mail today. We are going to place it somewhere in the Escanaba/Iron Mountain area. That means chances are if you decide to attend the Marquette event in August, you may be able to find it in a cache on the way up. So come on up and visit us!

There must be some explanation for the tick bloom this year. Are tick population booms cyclical?
Mild winter? I have no clue but that would be my guess without researching it.
Also, the ticks do not seem any worse then normal up here in the central UP, although in the past it was not uncommon to come out of the woods with 20+ ticks after a short walk, so take that for what its worth. Although I know quite a few people who have contracted lyme disease, it seems from reading posts on here that you guys in Wisconsin see deer ticks a lot more frequently than we do. I have only had 1 or 2 deer ticks (that I know of) in my life.
I voted to let her rot. Drunk driving is a very serious offense. Our Michigan caching community just lost one of our own to a drunk driver while he was working in Alabama. 😥

We have been working hard here since Thursday Night, cleaning debris and answering fire calls, but finally had time tonight to sit down and look at the maps of the Tornado route and compare them to GC.com listings. We checked on ours that was just a bit south of the route, but otherwise all caches in the area should be un harmed. When you have time come up and check out the destructive nature of a tornado, it was a F3 22 Miles long and averaged .8 miles wide ( 2 miles wide down to .5 miles ) No major injures were reported during the storm or the cleanup after. 2 houses were completely destroyed, 20 or so have heavy damage and another 20 have moderate damage, many have minor damage.
As a member of the Riverview Fire Dept. we would like to thank all who came to help clean up this weekend and also who donated to the red cross or gave donations to Wells Fargo Bank to help those who did not have insurance.
Glad to see you post on here and that you came out of it ok. I was watching the storm track on Thursday and saw it nearing Mountain and was thinking about you two. I am glad to hear that there were no major injuries from the storms, that was a scary situation.

Well I found a tool on my GPSr that I never used and am not sure if it on all other GPSr or not.
What type of GPS do you use?
Sports officiating….high school and college basketball, high school football, baseball and softball.
Of course I still do that, I just am more picky about the games that I ref, no more reffing 7 days a week for me.
Before that golf. I used to play a lot, 18/27 holes a day 5 days a week. Now I golf less than 10 times a summer.
My next obsession will probably be my first child when he is born in September.
