Night Caches!
At an event I hosted (not geocaching), I had, for lack of a better name, a reverse photo scavenger hunt. I started with a picture of a prominent landmark in the park we were in. At the land mark was a small container with another picture of another landmark, etc. Some of the pictures included hints (arrows) pointing to where the container was hidden… Like a multi without any coords.
Even in a small city park, it was a lot of fun. In a larger state park, I think it would be a blast, and keep people occupied and exploring the park for quite some time.
I know that the guided tour was a bit of a bust last year, but I think that was because it wasn’t communicated to the attendees well enough. From what I’ve seen, every state park in Wisconsin has enough history and/or geography to easily keeps anyone interested in these things occupied for a while. I still contend that this is something that should be pursued at every campout event.
